I understand limiting the number of planets you get with a single ringworld, but I still hold the opinion that the new habitats alone aren't enough to justify Ringworlds. All that effort just to create four new planets? Even if they're 100 tiles in total, have 100% habitability, and have some resources on them, they aren't that worth it when you consider the fact that the same amount of tiles and pops can come from a short-lived conquest. Yeah, those worlds are fresh and new, but unless there's some major benefit added to them they aren't worth the extra effort.
That's assuming you can conquer planets. Might be really useful to tall empires.

How does the saying go? "If you gave out free $100 bills to anyone who wanted, someone would still complain about the way they were folded"?

Ringworld-sized balancing problems aside, umm... can I point out that we're ACTUALLY getting buildable ringworlds of our own? Complete with fleshed out step by step construction mechanics? Complete with shipset-based graphics to put our civilisation's unique spin on it? In what insane galaxy is that "underwhelming"?

Not only is it just whleming enough, I'd buy Utopia just for that, if it wasn't coming with EVEN more amazing features we've been dreaming of since the game came out!

BACK IN MY DAY we had to build ringworlds with our bare hands, knees deep in vacuum, against the pull of gravity, BOTH WAYS and we LIKED IT!

Getting 4 x 25 tile planets + 4 space stations allows you to create a mega-boom in that system. Fleet construction goes like nothing you've seen. You can build a fleet just in this one system.

I'm sure you'll find they're well worth it.

What I am wondering is whether you will be able to construct Habitats over the non-habitable sections of Ringworlds, or over the blown-out sections of broken Ringworlds.

That's true, I suppose. But, like other people have said, for those who can afford to actually build these structures, they'll probably already have built plenty wide.
Just depends on how much they will cost. 5k for a habitat does not seem that much to me, for instance.

Thing is, it´s not like it´s easy to get 100, happy, same ethos pops, and besides... dunno how it will work out in the end, but it´s pretty damn silly that a ringworld gets a + mineral tile, for example, and the SOURCE of the mineral in a planet isn´t depleted...

Then again the whole notion of minerals in the game is VERY weird. It´s like metals in a place are infinite.

Finally the thing that makes ringworlds, specially fallen/awakened empire ringworlds, so special are the super buildings that are in them. If people have only access to the standard mineral I ---> 5 structure instead of the super one that FEs have... meh.

Yes, well, once again this is a game.

The Ringworlds the player makes are, I believe, exactly the same as those the FE's have, except they obviously don't have the OP buildings the FE ones have.
