Are there ways to get a 4 section ring world other than:

1. Defeating a Fallen Empire and taking one
2. Sanctuary system (I haven't seen it spawn since launch)

I have heard rumors that one of the precursor events can reward one but I have never had that confirmed. Are there any other ways in the game to get one other than mods and what are the most ring worlds you could get in a vanilla game?

None that I know of, the FE ringworld (usually, or maybe always, the Materialist FE) and the Sanctuary (I've seen it spawn before, it's just rather rare) are the only ones that have 4 section ringworlds.

Enclaves (Leviathans DLC) can on occasion have a ringworld at their location, but they're always completely destroyed.

As for the precursor event, there is the Cybrex Alpha from the Cybrex precursor chain, but it's also completely destroyed.

Precursor Cyprex ring world is all busted sadly, it already way superior then other precursor due to all the engineering research you can get from living metal, if you get it early game.

As for sanctuary, sadly each time I saw it spawn I was playing xenophile, so could't go for a more direct control of it.

Last time I saw it a wraith came to the ring world and destroyed my frontier outpost after I had enlightened 1 species, so lost control of the 3 others that were getting enlightened. :( Then my neighboring xenophile FE woke up, before I was ready to deal with them, without any crisis going on. So game was abandoned after I discovered that been one of its protectorate is boring as hell, as it doesn't even let you participate in the wars it starts, on top of making me lose my ring world protectorate, so all hope of getting the ring world were lost.

I think there is a total of five ringworlds possible:
1. 4 Habitable sectors in a FE home system (Beacon of Infinity)
2. 1 habitable sector and the rest are destroyed (Beacon of Prosperity)
3. Cybrex Home system (Precursor quest)
4. Sanctuary.
5. A destroyed ringworld in curator enclaves' system.

I can confirm that. One of the Curators seems to always spawn with a destroyed ringworld. The FE with the opeartion ringworlds is always the Materialists. And it is always 4+1, with fixed names for Systems and the segments.

Santuary has 4, but with Pre-FTL species and guardians.

Did not actualyl get the Cybrex to the end, so I do not know if how many operational/destryoed segments they have. But I asume very other ringworld segment is destroyed.
Note that in the end, a Ringworld Segment is jut a size 25 Gaia Planet. And all the FE's have one of those as capitol.

The Materialist FE actually has three ringworlds:
  1. 4 habitable sections one in Beacon of Infinity
  2. 1 habitable section one in Beacon of Stability
  3. Fully-destroyed one in Beacon of Perpetuity

Not the Xenophile, as their capital sector got 3 moons that are full of ancient tech building, their capital, Cradles, is only 20 tiles. The Materialist might have more high quality planet then the other FE, with their 5 ring world section, but most of their tiles are a ancient ruins.

If you are not playing Ironman and using the console doesn't bother you, you can transform destroyed sections of ringworlds into habitable ones.

Just select each destroyed section you wish to colonize and type:

planet_class pc_ringworld_habitable

I didn't use this for myself, but to create a 12 colony system for a standard AI empire, and then editted the savegame to give each section a full set of dark matter power plants and autonomous fabricators. They really made an amazing final adversary in the endgame - with their core having even more production than an awakened FE.

SIx actually, as Nhunter said, theres three ringworlds in the Materialist FE systems. You missed the Beacon of Perpetuity, which is a completely destroyed ringworld.

Also, more than one curator enclave system may have a destroyed ringworld, not sure on this one.
