So I've been rewatching the streams and there's this "rightful liege" mechanic that's been changed from CK2. Whenever you took a vassal that (in de jure terms) belonged under a different liege, said liege would get an opinion malus towards you ("Desires control of..."). However, it seems that in CK3 the vassal themself will have a malus as well, providing you with less taxes and levies.
What do you guys think of this? To me, it doesn't make much sense, either in terms of gameplay or historicity. It's one thing for a duke to be mad that you're hoarding all his counts, but it's quite another for said counts to be miffed as well. I mean, wouldn't it be a greater honor for you to be a direct vassal of a king rather than a duke? Also, it removes the trade-off dilemma: do you hoard the vassals and risk the ire of their de jure lieges, or do you appease them but lose the vassals' income and troops? Now this decision has become more schewed towards giving them away, which makes it more of a no-brainer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for vassal consolidation, it's how I play CK every time. I think there should be incentives to do it, I just don't think this should be one of them.
