I have taken all of Britain except for Stornoway in the north, being held by 16 Canadian and Australian divisions. I have amassed 52 divisions against them, but all 3 of their assaults have been repelled so far.

The entire Kriegsmarine, including 18 U-boat flotillas, is just off shore, trying to blockade the island, aided by 12 naval bomber squadrons. Trying and failing, that is - the convoys keep coming through and the defenders' supplies keep getting topped off every few days.

Is there any way out of this situation besides spending the next 5 years researching the bomb so I can nuke the @#$% ?

Were the assaults getting aborted due to kamikaze UK ships in the straits? If so, take your navs off convoy bombing and concentrate on naval interdiction or port strike if there are any ships stored at Stornoway. Also, push a couple smaller TFs out from the sea zone to try and interdict ships before they get close. Silly Question, but you are using HQs right? Bring in some TACs and hit stornoway with log strike. This will severely hurt the defenders ESE, which will affect their combat abilities much quicker than trying to starve them out. When you attack, try and use paras, shore bombardment and marines in your attack, all this will help your odds.

Finally, failing all that, you could just build some forts across the strait, leave a couple corps there to guard it, and voila! the perfect holding pen for Allied divisions. This is a bit gamey though as the AI will continually try and reinforce it, sending dozens of transports in as easy prey for your navy. Also, it will strip divisions from other fronts to send there. Your best bet is to try and cut them down before this happens.

My way around this issue is to drop a corps of airborne into the neck of Scotland, preventing divisions from escaping north.

Yep, you always should do that blocking technique if you can. Anyway, if you have enough ships on convoy raiding, you will starve them out until their org is zero, maybe sooner than you think. Put some on day and some on night raiding.

What you need to do is keep the Infrastructure bombed using your TAC on the Logistical Strike mission.

In this way after each assault you will regain your Organization much faster then your target and be able to launch your second and subsequent assaults before the enemy can gain back much of their Organization.

Wear them down.
