Hi,
I'm quite new playing HoI2 - I have played lots of Victoria and EU2, but got to HoI2 just recently. That is the reason, I have couple of questions...
Well, I took Great Britain, paused the game in the beginning (version 1.3, when I remember correctly and 1936 scenario) and released Rhodesia as a puppet. Then I saved the game and left it - I had already played around with graphics making a poster for Rhodesia and an air force roundel - only to enter again with a different country now. So, I choose Rhodesia and started playing. I got suddenly a AI event saying, that my IC was modified and I got some 'off map' IC points. How could I turn that off? I would like to play as Rhodesia but not with AI events... :(
The second problem I encountered was the question of being a puppet. Is there any way of getting rid of this?
And the third one - where do I find the file on Rhodesia, like all the other countries have it? I mean this text file, where all the information of a country is in?

As to your questions.....

First Question: Events are a vital part of HOI2.That off map IC event is nessecarry to make your newly created Rhodesia playable. This is because the territories that make up Rhodesia have no Factories at all, giving you no IC, and making the nation pretty much unplayable. The event just gives you a few "off map" IC to give you just enough boost to make it playable.

Second Question: If you wish to no longer be a puppet, save and reload as the UK again, and release Rhodesia from being a puppet via the Diploamcy screen.

Understandable. But what if I tweak the files, giving territories making up Rhodesia some factories and manpower - how could I then turn off that event which feels very unrealistic?

So there is now possibility (like in Victoria DOWing my master nation) shaking off the burden of being a puppet yourself?

I dont know this for sure, but i believe the event is triggered by simply having no Base IC. So if you modify it togive you a few, I imagine the event would disappear.

I agree with the OP. That's why I modded my game to give colonial provinces IC so that if and when new countries are released, they have a fair amount of IC and resources.

I believe that the events are in the db/events file but I do not remember which subfile they are in as I have long since erased those lines.
