Revolutions to change Government

I have been reading some threads where people mention that governments can change via revolution events.
I have just began playing and havent played past the 1860's yet while I learn the game.....so I havent experienced any such events.
Can anyone explain this process in a little more detail and what triggers these events?

I've been playing other games for a while so I'm a little fuzzy, but I believe the revolution events (found in the revolution.txt file) are called by the game code when rebels capture and hold your capital for a while. When that happens, your government is overthrown and a new one is put into place based on the ideology of the rebels in question.

Revolutions were designed to be more common later on in the game, when communist pops (and in Vic: Revolutions, fascist ones) start becoming much more militant, through the culture technology events.
