I'm currently making a map, (very) roughly depicting the situation in 1789, shortly before the French revolution (just for the heck of it, I can't make a scenario on my own ;)... but perhaps something will come of it). I have rather accurate maps for Europe and the Near East, as well as Northern America, but I'm not sure at all how good they are for India, and I have nothing for Central- and East Asia. I don't know how much Spain and Portugal should have colonized in South America...

So, any help would be appreciated, mainly by posting or pointing to the URLs of historical maps for these regions!

Not an URL to maps, but at home I have an edition of Times Atlas of World History; I'd recommend it to anyone slightly interested in history. The Amazon site says something about the "Hammond Atlas" being the newest version of it, so you might need to look into that if you go for soemthing like this.

Thanks, Rafiki! I'll see whether it's in the University Library (it should be). I don't think I'll buy it though, as if got a pretty good (German) "Grosser Atlas zur Weltgeschichte", and the old staple (AFAIK, at least) "dtv-Atlas"...

You're doing a 1793 Scenario? I'd definately be willing to give support to that.

I have the Rand McNally 'Atlas of World History' and the Harper Collins 'Atlas of World History'.

If need be, I can scan and mail/post things from that.

The first has some of the things you're interested in on pp 100 - 106.
The second on pp 202-205.

I'd be frateful id you did that, but I don't think you're allowed to post it here (copyright)... send them to svenk(at)student.ethz.ch .

Also, I was thinking about placing it on 1889, some time before the revolution (so the player can fight against the republicans as a royalist if he wants).

Age of Revolutions

Sounds like a great idea! Victoria's got a great game engine but the time period covered seems to be too great to really incorporate all those changes. Focusing on one specific era and making it detailed might be interesting. What about starting it in like the 1770's with the Intolerable Acts and the American War for Independence, which does affect the French drive to revolution.

regards,
Richmond

Yes, I considered suggesting pushing it back to 1770ish too.

But the farther back you push, as you pointed out, Richmond, the more you stretch the game engine.

The biggest obstacle seems to me to be that you have to figure out some way to slow down tech growth before about 1836, so that when 1836 arrives, most countries are about where they are in the normal 1836 scenarios.

I suppose you could fiddle with the 'researchable from' dates on the techs. I suspect you would also need some events that would wipe out/reduce excessive RP points so that countries don't arrive at 1836 with 50 unspent research points.

Well, you could add new techs. But since such a scenario would focus on the revolution anyway (the jump to the American revolution wouldn't be too difficult, I think - the map can stay almost the same way in the "important" areas - I think only India greatly changed) - so I don't think the scenario really would need to be playable to 1914, if you know what I mean. (The first level of railroads could be interpreted as Road & Channel Network or something)

I love the idea. Ive wanted to do something like this (though I was really only thinking pushing it to 1815) for awhile, but never did anything about it. Im really interested in helping in some way. Ive got a few atlases and maybe some other resources I could use with research, I can try other things, but I dont really have any other experience modding the game. Though, theres never been a better time to learn. :D

This is a most interesting mod idea, i would help in research, i am interetsted in that period even though i have limited knoweledge of it. I can come up with a few Napoleonic Leaders for Austria,Prussia, Russia and maybe a few others. Also some French and Spanish naval ships. If i can be of any help, call me and i will apear and help to the best of my ability.
Would you like some leaders from around that period?

This project seems a little too ambitious. By proposing to write another 40 years of events, your setting yourselves for plenty of work. But then again, if your'e passionate about, something, anything is possible.

I would certainly never do anything beyond bare bones on my own...

Swampthing: Nicely, but the yearly hell of pre-diploma tests is about to begin - I'll post a screenshot, of Europe, though...

Question: SE-Asia - I have no idea how to make that, I'll just take the EUII scenario Revolution & Restauration for now...

Franz: Anything you can provide would be much appreciated :).

Ok, here are some screenshots of the map... I'm least sure about the Middle Asian states (where I put the Uzbeks and Kazakhs, actually Khiva and Bukhara ;) ).

For the German minors, I used up all of the not-so-free TAGs in the area (SGF, NGF, LUX, WAL, BEL, FLA). Luckily, the "Palatinate" is in Bavaria anyway ;) ). Also, should Norway be satellite or in Denmark?

In Italy, I'm not sure whether Lombardia should be independent:

And finally, Georgia. Should Daghestan be a seprate state (using the ARM tag, most likely?)

(North America is also pretty much done, except on how far north Louisiana and Canada should already be colonized).

Edit: Forgot Poland!

Marshall's Ney and Murat of France were arrested after Waterloo and shot, you'd have to make an event to get rid of 'em if Napoleon looses the war in 1815, if he wins, they stay around for another 20 odd years.
Hope this can be of assistance!

A good list! Can you suggest traits for them? I can google for them myself, of course... ;)
