Ideally, there would be customisable names for if a given tag gets the revolution, but short of that, this change would fix the following potential uglinesses:
Revolutionary Holy Roman Empire - Holy Roman Republic (actually, the united HRE's adjective is currently 'Imperial', but I've elected to ignore it, in the hopes that it goes away)
Revolutionary Mamluks - Mamluk Republic
Revolutionary Ottomans - Ottoman Republic (still pretty strange, but if you squint hard enough it looks alright)
Revolutionary The Palatinate - Palatine Republic (goes from being one of the worst possible names to possibly the coolest)
Revolutionary Great Britain - British Republic (the former is not wrong, but too many words)
Revolutionary The Hansa - Hanseatic Republic (just in case they became a monarchy somehow)
Revolutionary Golden Horde - Golden Horde Republic (which still sounds terrible, but that's what people get for not calling it Jöchi or Kipchak or something)

Of course, this would require fixing the various errors with national adjectives, like 'Neveriase', which, despite looking like the name of an enzyme, is presumably a misspelling of 'Neveraise', a word which doesn't exist anyway (try either Nivernais or Neversois).

It would be more ideal, but because EU4's name system is so clumsy we should be happy that we even got "Revolutionary" prefix.

Having revolutionary in front of the name was probably easiest way to do it and it is more dynamic name it makes sense for some nations like France be it republic or monarchy.

Having government name in the name of country is bothersome, I would prefer Holy Romans over Holy Roman Empire, because that name would refer to any kind of monarchy, theocracy or a republic.

I don't see anything wrong with Revolutionary Mamluks, but I agree Mamluk Republic sounds better.

Can't we just get rid of country names whose name comes from starting dynasty? Ming should stay as Ming because it wasn't ever ruled by House of Ming, Ming it is more like a title. Korea is opposite of Ottomans, it should be called Joseon, but it wasn't ruled by House of Joseon, I've no idea why Ottomans get so much special treatment.

What about Cumania? I know they weren't Cumans, but some sources seem to refer them as Cumania.

At first I agreed fully, but then I remembered that there are also revolutionary empires. These can't possibly be called republics.

I favour recycling the HLR tag, and having renovatio imperii turn you into Germany.

Not a bad idea, Holy Roman Empire is such rare tag anyway... Talking about recycling tags I'm still not sure why Revolutionary France hasn't been reused.

Presumably because they haven't decided what to reuse it for. (It's certainly available for reuse, you'd just need to do some very minor housekeeping first.)

Regensburg? Warmia? Iceland? Zulu? Merina? Cyrenaica? Baguirmi? Wadai? Kwararafa? Sikkim? Slovenia? Slovakia? Tu'i Tonga? Hawai'i? Wallonia? Belgium? Texas? Kurdistan? Zanzibar? Lahej? Dalmatia? Istria? All of these and more make varying degrees of sense. Many wouldn't even require changes to cultures or provinces.

There are, as you say, lots of things they could use it for. The existence of lots of possiblities is, if anything, going to make the process of deciding harder, not easier.

Ah, I misunderstood what you were saying. There are at least five other defunct tags, too - Taira, Fujiwara, Tachibana, Deva Bengal, and Travancore. There might be other tags that still exist, but don't really need to, such as coreless revolter tags for cultures that already have plenty.
