What do you think about a left- wing revolution inside Italy during 1936/1937? I start to suppose that we can have such a revolution if fascist italy don't get ethiopia or Spain republicans win the war ( it would be possible if Italians didn't send help to Franco. ) The civil war could develop like the spanish one. This would add an intriguing Development if italy os not aligned toward Germany. If Germany try to invade Italy a war in the Alps would be an intriguing scenario and the Italians could employ all their army in one front.

How would Germany invade Italy in 36-37? Not like they had a common border, and German navy was most definitely not up to task of supplying a sea-born invasion that far away - even if we discount the Italian navy as reduced to impotence due to civil war.

I think that a civil war would last nearly one year or at least 6 months.. Of course italians don't be able to prevent Anschluss but they can be ready to defend homeland before World War 2.
