So, I created the Netherlands as Burgundy having eaten pretty much all of northern France, and intending to eat the rest of the south. I decided to rush diplomacy as my fourth idea, pretty much completely neglecting tech (I'm five levels behind the rest of Europe) in order to get the Revolution/Counter-Revolution idea, solely for the CB that you apparently get on neighbouring countries, as a Republic (I am a Republic, btw, converted via the enet.)

However, I'm not getting any new CBs on anyone. I've made sure they neighbour, and they're all monarchies. Is it the fact that I'm a Dutch Republic that is preventing this, or something to do with a date? I think the Holy War CB only lasts up till 1650, is it similar with this, in that it will only activate after a certain date? That would make sense, admittedly. Just looking to know, thanks.

-.- Well, thanks. Diplomacy was probably worth it anyway, but that's annoying.

Pretty strange that a Republican Dictatorship has access to the CB but not the Dutch Republic. Besides the RM and bonuses, they're exactly the same.

Unique governments shouldn't be disqualified from using the CB. Monarchies are monarchies and republics are republics.

Monastic states can kind of screw themselves, but whatever.

It really doesn't make sense. I mean, Archduchy is on that list too, why on earth would they be disqualified from using the CB? For Republics, it's one of the only thing's, war-wise, they've got going for them. The important thing, though - does it disqualify other monarchies using the CB on me? Because that truly would be a huge sack of shit.

If they use that CB and unexpectedly lose, the winner could enforce a change of government. Or a crafty player could win and "lose" by offering to change their government. My guess is that this prevents such things.

For the Dutch Republic I could concord with the Paradox decision, being in reality a middle way, you say a Republican Dictatorship with Royal Marriages... in reality it was a de facto monarchy with a proper dynasty (House Orange), that used numeral (Statholder William I not Statholder William de Orange) that in the end became Kings of England, too! So we had a Republic senior in the union
with a Kingdom

So in reality if the casus belli was in effect it should be valid against Republics as you are a Monarchy!

More strange is that these others governments cannot use the CB: arch duchy (a normal monarchy in all aspect), Empire (the monarchy for excellence), American Republic (why? USA tried to use this CB today too! The call this "exporting the liberty"), Federal Republic (Again applicable to USA).
Maybe the problem is that when you win the loser is forced to take your government? And so one could become Dutch Republic not being Dutch? One could become Archduke not being Austrian? One could become Emperor not being the Roman Empire? In these cases if possible should transform the target in a more "neutral" government (for example a Republic? Become a Despotic Monarchy as if its Republican Tradition became 0, a Monarchy? Become an Administrative Republic?)

The weirdest thing is that the Dutch republic can't form PU's. Now THAT doesn't make sense at all.

This is strange indeed, it should be permitted as in history happened... probably is the line "republic=yes" that blocks this
I'm asking if you do comment that line what happens, it should be considered a monarchy an all effects (eligible to HRE too?) and should have the possibility to form Personal Unions.
