During the last Japan Lets Play at round 8 minutes of the game (link below) Daniel says something about not having revolts in Hearts of Iron IV like the one's in EU4... does that mean provinces will not revolt?

I know that civil wars are possible and are more broad now than just scripted for a few nations but what about Nationalst revolts like Chinese rebellion against Japanese rule or the Warsaw uprising... how are those going to be represented in the game? Certainly not just by some modifiers?

Will resistance eventually turn into revolt or will it stay at the level of damaging modifiers that allow less supply and stuff?

Link to the video where they talk about revolts:

Most hated thing in HoI3 was the revolt system which was pain in the ass. It was so much fun to hunt brigades in mountainous areas with garrisons.

So in HoI4 they turned it into smaller scale with resistance movements and partisans which just harm you're income, resources, decrease supplies and cause attrition if let go bad. Check the DD for more info.

I don't really see a DD for revolts or resistance movements, if there are no revolts how will new nations be created if they can't break free?

Oh that kind of depends on how you're allies and overlords feel about you. :D But reality was that you are not creating nations with you're self.

I did read that dev diary but didn't really realize that revolts are actually completely removed from the game... :\

This is a bit odd I have to say, I don't think revolts were that bad (they were in HOI3 but not in HOI4) as long as the player is warned about them beforehand and has options to do something about them.

Not sure I am fan of the new system since this means that your armies will not never have a true resisting force on occupied territory and you can fully commit them to the front.

Each occupied state you control has a resistance value indicating the strength of the resistance there. It will slowly grow over time. To reduce or halt growth you need to station troops in the area (preferably special divisions with military police support battalions which are very effective for this) or lower your occupation policy for the nation in question.

Considering high partisan levels cause damage to factories and infrastructure, leaving occupied areas without an occupation force will quickly reduce the area to completely worthless. Why bother conquering it in the first place if you aren't going to get anything out of it?

that was from an very outdated built that was months old. That most likely has changed by now, since annexed states are non-core states, which you cant core.

I believe Doctoxic to be partially correct: Dissent disappears completely once an area is completely taken into your dominion. As an example the Chinese provinces that Yapan now holds in WWW do not have dissent as I am led to believe. However, simple capitulation is not enough. When People's Republic of China capitulated the leader of their alliance / faction was still fighting and thus they had not lost hope yet, leading to their capitulated areas still keeping dissent up.

No, not when the country capitulates, but when it is annexed.
ok - i had wrongly assumed capitulation was annexexation, either way it doesn't seem realistic if dissent is zero on annexation - if GER had annexed UK in WW2 you cannot tell me they would not have had to leave some security forces there, particularly in view of the fact that the timescale of the game is very short

AapoAlas made an intersting point about "alliance / faction was still fighting ........ leading to their capitulated areas still keeping dissent up", and hopefully we'll get more info on this soon

Revolts in HOI3 were that bad. I remember having a single revolt brigade pop up in Yugoslavia and watching the AI pull most of my forces off of the Eastern front to go swat it.
