why isnt the Byzantines in the revolt.txt file but they remain in the grand campagin and when i try to add them to the revolt file and try to liberate them the game crashes is there anyway to get around it?

Not all nations are in that file to start with, but they can still exist in a scenario. Just means they don't come back if annexed. As for the crash, we need to see what exactly you added, because if you don't get the syntax right the game crashes.

The Byzantines aren't in the revolt section so the Ottomans don't get their capital revolting away (which can cause extremely bizarre things to occur, such as the Ottoman capital moving to Brazil).

I think they should be a liberatable country though, so if you grab a glob of Anatolia, and/or Thrace you can release it.

Is it possible to make the revolt.txt file such that a nation can be released but won't revolt? Haven't looked there in a while.

Yep. Just add "revolt=no". The following countries can be released but can't revolt:
Kingdom of Jerusalem
The Knights
Duchy of Athens
Teutonic Order
The Kaliphate
Germany
Livonian Order

So basically, crusader states, plus Germany (can only be released before 1500) and the Kaliphate.

Well, if all the provinces you own are given to Byzantium, the game will crash. Same thing if you start with a german country and release Germany without owning non-Germany-defined provinces. ;)

Technically it isn't a crash. It's a 'game ends' same as if you were annexed (which in essence you are), a self-inflicted suicide.... hmm suicide is always self-inflicted isn't it? Well you know what I mean.

Yes, but without details about the "crash" the OP is suffering, it's the only explanation that I find that is based on revolt.txt.

well when i have Thrace since thats all is needed to liberate the BYZ and when i liberate it just crashes so do i need to get rid of the extras or make it have so much terroritory and not have claims as a whole empire?
