Revise Lend Lease to UK

Has any consideration been given to changing the effects for the "Lend Lease to the UK" event? Specifically, require the USA player to establish a convoy or convoys of a set minimum capacity to deliver commodities and supplies to Commonwealth destinations instead of being a subtraction from the commodity balances. With this sort of arrangement, the Axis player has an opportunity to interdict the flow of supplies by establishing a U-boat campaign. Just a thought for providing an "excuse" for the Axis player or AI to build submarines.

Yes the idea has been brought up a couple of times and we do hava a create convoy command that we can put into the events. The problem we have is that the ai wont always put transports into a convoy that is created through event so we cant always be sure that the UK or others get what they should.

If this is fixed at some point there is no doubt that we will move to a convoy type event.

I personally think the lend lease events need to be redone. The main benefit of the lend lease was not increased industrial output or resources, but vehicles, planes, etc...

Events such as the rearmaments of Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania spring to mind. Therefore, the brits get tanks, but still loose the manpower.

I also think the commonwealth should get events that give them the techs to build brit units, such as churchill/crusader/cromwell tanks. Perhaps a rearmament type events for them (diff name of course), as historically all these nations used british issued equipment.

Also as I am a big fan of the core program (I only play HOI with it), I am willing to offer my services to the core team. While I lack a lot of programing knowledge, I am a quick learner. I also like to think that I have an extensive knowledge of WWII history.

Finally as I have been gone for a year, what are the new campaigns that will be inluded in 8.0. or is that "mums the word'.

Which start dates/event are to be set is still under discussion. However some ideas have been agreed on.

1) 1939 scenario. Much like Vanilla HOI

2) 1941 scenario. Either Babarossa or Pearl Harbor or both

3) 1944 scenario. Road to Berlin type of scenario.

These are all thoughts and are not decided on yet.

In regards to the lend lease, I agree with you that the real lend lease consisted of war materials as in verhicles and planes and such. In HOI, giving large numbers of supplies does only little as we dont know a whole lot about how different levels of supply stockpile afffects the ai.

Seperate events will probably have to be created for ai and human players as the human player getting a lot of supplies will probably allow himself to produce less supplies then what is needed for his troops as show by the production sliders knowing that it will be covered by the lend lease. Im not sure that the ai however will allow such a deficit to happen. Thefore it might be wise to rise IC levels for the ai as a effect of the lend lease and thereby giving it more IC for production and research.

For scenarios where the lend lease has already started it will probably be represented through convoys started at the beginning of the game. Thereby allowing for interception. Again for ai recipients the use of IC gains from events could also be used in addition to the convoy.

I have plans to look into the whole lend lease issue over the next month or so and will keep everyone here posted on what i find as well as on the wiki.
It will take a lot of testing and solutions might not be as easy as they appear. Any input that you guys can get your hands on in tearms of amounts of lend lease/each year/recipient will be much appreciated as well as any other info you might have on the subject.

I will also try and work in events to take away gains again if different routes to the target becomes blocked. fx Russian harbors captured by axis etc.

Besides the obvious lend lease to USSR and Britain im interested in China and possible minors as recipients of the lend lease.

As far as the tech trade we will continue to expand the existing events when we become aware of such transfers happening IRL so if you have any information of that kind please let us know and we will do what we can to add them.
