I can confirm the random CTDs with my gold copy. Have been playing for a few weeks (reviewer) and it's happened 3 times so far, notably while playing Sweden. Crashes happened randomly, sometimes while switching screens, one time while attempting to open a trade agreement with another country. In general, it's slightly more annoying than "not at all," but given the sheer number of variables in play, essentially forgivable.

While playing Sweden? How ironic...

For which paper/site do you review?

Anyway...3 times in a few weeks...? That´s nothing. Most games crash sooner or later. It could even by an operative system problem.
The only time I had a problem with a Paradox game was with EU 2, but this was before the latest patches.

I find a pity that game reviewers still don't play trough games before they make a review. you need to play HOI for several days to review it and both by reading the review and knowing that they did not send out gold versions early I can say that this guy did not do that. It was a favourable review even tough he mentioned CTD which may create a backlash even if he is the only in the world suffering from it. At any rate, I think most in this forum don't care that much about reviews, we already decided wether we will buy the game.

I was a BETA for Victoria and the CTDs was more and more nonexistant closing in on gold. byt the time of gold status I have had none in a long time. Doesn't mean there are none, I actually post here now because I got a CTD in Crusader kings...

I'm still reviewing it, and it's been several weeks. And yes, contrary to popular opinion, we do play these games pretty much into the ground before writing the final review. My CTDs are infrequent enough to warrant serious attention in the review at this time, but that doesn't mean they're not a problem.

As I said about the CTDs that can be a quite personal thing. I feel certain it is not like HOI1 tough which was Paradox worst release when it came to CTD according to more than me. You shall of course only say what you seen with your experience, but let me add a question, have you tried it on several computers?

Otherwise, the review mentioned not things that would not be encountered after playing more than some hours. Actually i did not really see much expect from what we already knew. No mentions on how things work out over time, if anything can be abused or something that could be used to your advantage. Basically nothing to learn for someone following the forum. If you want tips on things that would be helpful to read, then just ask. ;)

Yes, almost forgot, maybe you should look over the reader reviews. there is one worthless piece of shit and three that denounce the worthless shit and tell you to delete them all. :D

Speak for your self sir, or not at all.

I played through all the campaigns, and several of the battle scenarios before writing my review.

Maybe he's just a weak player. :D

I mean, he did say he didn't have enough forces to complete them. Not enough forces or bad tactics?
I'm amazed, this is the second thread where I was attacked on Paradox, what is up with that?

Bad player?

I completed the game four times on its hardest levels before writing my review.

The first combat tutorial, dealing with the attack on Poland, instructs the palyer to follow what is said, there are no 'tactics' to use that would change matters, the problem is, the poles retreat to Danzig, a forrest province, and have 9 devisions, the German combat force cannot dislodge them, and therefore, cannot finish off the remaining poles.

The tutorial is supposed to be the learning tool for combat, it does not operate properly.

The second tutorial has American devisions on formosa in a mountain section, the Japanese force just isn't strong enough to dislodge them, unless the Japanese destroyers win a sea battle with a carrier, and you suffer few losses before adding them to bombardment.

It has nothing to do with 'bad tactics' or poor play.

Well, outing yourself as game tester seems to invoke envy among the people here. And now they all want to tell themselves that they are a better player than you. I wouldn't give anything on it.
And it certainly is no general feeling among the board members ... at least the somewhat mature board members.

Yeah, with the delay in the release in North America, quite a few people are getting more than a bit "antsy". No excuse for their behaviour, tho'.

Looking forward to seeing the reviews as they come out; I don't think these people would be doing them if their editors thought they did a bad job of it.

But I don't reviev games so I can't "speak for myself". It is good if you have done that, but it surerly does not mirror itself in the review. The review from my perspective looks like an guide to the ones that played the first HOI and wonder what HOI2 will get them, almost all focus is on the changes and what is in it. Very little mention how the individual systems work out. Nothing on how diplomacy work out.

Maybe they are, who knows? :)

I was surprised by it, because I have reviewed other Paradox games without seeing such hostility, but no matter, thanks for the nice reply.

That must've been it then. I noticed the carrier was chased away, but I've only played it once. Have you tried it many times or were you just unlucky? :)
