), let's post a quick update.

The Ukrainian Civil War - Part II

27 January 2010, 16:00 hrs
Palais Bourbon, Paris

"Gentlemen" -started President Gayssot- "I have gathered you here to talk about the Ukrainian Civil War, as you may imagine. We know that everything that weakens German oppression in the world is welcome, but it's better to analize the situation to see if we can obtain the maximum benefit from it. Monsieur Besancenot, which are our current informations?"

"Many units guarding Eastern Ukraine switched side and joined the rebels, so the revolters possess a big chunk of the Ukrainian army, which was concentrated along the Russian border. We know that President Jušcenko has explicitly refused any German armed intervention, probably trying not to worsen the situation, but it's likely that Germany would intervene anyway if becames clear that Kiev will not be able to stop the uprising. Our spies also report that many foreign aids are coming for both the two factions, mainly from Russia and Germany, but it seems that Canada too is helping the government. Relations between Entete and MittelEuropa have never been so close, I won't be surprised if Germany promised our beloved land and Britain in exchange for some kind of pact with the Exiles... Anyway, it seems that Ukraine is going to become the battlefield of a proxy war between the two Empires, which is a really good news for us.", quickly reported the Foreign Minister.

"Uhm, I think this may be a golden opportunity for us." -replied the Chairman- "Will it be possible to man a brigade and send it to Novorossiya?", asked.

"But monsieur President, they are not Syndicalists nor left-winged, nay! The public opinion won't approve this move at all!", intervened the Security Minister Hue.

"I know it may sound a nonsense, but think about it: we all know we can't defeat MittelEuropa alone, although our men are better equipped, trained and motivated, so we need to hit Germany when she is focused elsewhere. We lost this opportunity too many times (Vietnam, Polish Uprisings,...) and I will not allow this to happen again under my legislature. We have to show the Russians that we are as friendly as we were almost one hundred years ago, at the time of the Weltkrieg. It's not a really orthodox practice, but Germany will not be able to sustain a two fronts war".

Everybody in the room fixed the others in the eyes, probably thinking that the Chaiman was not completely ok. [1]

"We have to hurry, come on!" -Gaysott said to end all that staring- "Besancenot, contact the British and try to convince them to send another brigade. Also, call Moskow and tell them about our support, I'm sure we won't have any problem to cross the Bosphorus..."

"Agreements with treacherous empires? Unbelievable!", thought Besancenot leaving the room.

Thanks to Russian massive help, Novorossiyan troops quickly occupied everything east of the Dniepr and even managed to cross it in the south. A really big number of airplanes were captured by rebels in Sevastopol and Kharkov giving them air supremacy and ground support, finally forcing Ukrainian divisions out of Odessa. Everything seemed lost for Kiev so the German high command decided that it was time to intervene in the conflict. The Luftwaffe cleared the skies in just few days while the first Heer divisions started to arrive. During March any rebel group was utterly destroyed and everyone suspected of sedition was immediately sent to jail or coarsely executed. Although East Ukraine was still formally ruled from Kiev, the local control was on OKR's (Oberkommando der Reichswehr) hands.

[1] Many thought that helping and Empire to defeat another was something unthinkable, like in OTL the Allies with Soviet Union. But some of them were so used to the Cold War that never actually thought they would ever see it turning hot during their lifes.

Germany always has to ruin the fun, doesn't it? Once you steam roll Germany, destroy Ukraine and liberate the Novorossiyans!

I'm surprised that Novorossiya actually accepted your help, for all the good it did in the end.

The lack of any escalation into a major conflict is a disappointment but Germany's going to have to be on guard against a hostile Russia from now on, which should reduce the forces they have avaliable to fight you.

Well at least the risk of a Russo-German rapprochement has been prevented.

The Second Weltkrieg - Preparations

6 April 2010, 08:00 hrs
Palais Bourbon, Paris

As usual, President Gayssot's was the first to speak in the meeting: "You surely know the reason behind your convocations, ie the Russian attack to MittelEuropa of yesterday afternoon. You surely heard in the evening also of the Finnish entry in the German alliance, quite expectable since the old German King Heinrich of Hesse died only 11 years ago. You are probably wondering why I didn't call you earlier in such an important situation, but I wanted to be all present: let me introduce you the Italian General Magagnin." [1]

Finnish tank near the Russian border

Everybody in the room had already noticed and squared that man sitting close to the Chairman, mainly due to the old-looking suit he was wearing, while Besancenot recognized him as the misterious man that was talking with the President almost three years ago, at the time of the Egyptian invasion of Libya. The man stood up when he was named, and the Chairman continued: "The General proposed me his plan some time ago, but I thought that the time was not yet ripe to act. But now the situation has changed and I am quite sure we will win this war. I will now let the General explain his plan."

"Thank you really much, signor Presidente." -started the General- "Being a Venetian myself, I hate the todeschi and 'striaci [2] as much as you, since my land stayed under their control for too long. Actually, my plan is quite simple, but will be fatal for the Germans: whilst they probably expect us to sit in our bunker and stare ourselves in the eyes like we did in the Weltkrieg, we will act immediately and strike against Flandern-Wallonien and Netherlands, on the line of a reverse Schlieffen Plan. If we strike fast enough, we will reach the northern German border before they will be able to understand what is happening. I've prepared a synthetic map of the operation."

Immagine-4.png

Everybody was looking at the map: the plan was really simple, and it was likely that with all the faster units now available the entire plan could be carried out in a matter of days. Then the Chairman, seeing the expression of assent in Bentegeat's face, spoke: "We think the plan may work, but it will need continuos supervision from his creator. Would you mind, General, to take command of the new armored corp that is being formed in Calais and follow the operation directly on the field?" asked. The General accepted immediately and, after a few more question concerning the plan, he was allowed to leave the room and go to Calais to take command of the troops assigned to him. As soon as he left, General Kelche protested with the President:" Sir, you just let him control our best armored group, 900 of the newest and strongest tanks ever built! We can't allow the first passing to decide our fate!". "What you expect, he is the Author..." [3]

[1] Yep, I've put myself in the story. :D If you want to become a commander of any country, please write it down in the comment sect... ehm, in your post, specifing in which branch of the army you want to be, your name, your rank, traits, skills and a picture, chosen from the default on MDS or from elsewhere (in this case please be so kind to already resize (36x50) and rename it with the commander's name, thank you :))

[2] Germans and Austrian in really strict dialect.

[3] And here it goes the fourth wall again... Interesting fact, people like Giulio Mazarino and Napoleon Bonaparte, key figures of French history, were Italians...

How many armoured units do you have? ''Best Armoured Group'' of General Magagnin is very strong unit(three advanced tank divisions), I hope you have enough heavy troops to break trough Siegfried Line.

@SovietAmerika & Kugyi: nah, where would be the fun if I ally with the now biggest (yet outdated) army in the world? ;)

@Asalto: I'm planning to show you my current forces in the next update, both ground and air ones. Lol, you noticed the "Best Armored" thing, like General Kelche said. :D Anyway, any direct assault against the Siegfried Line would be a suicide (Germany has something like three divisions in every province), so my plan is to flank it and eventually cut it from Germany itself.

@everybody: German fate is now sealed. ;)
