Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios today released Revelations, the first expansion for turn-based strategy game Age of Wonders: Planetfall. Revelations details the awakening of the entombed Es’Teq dynasty, its powerful Secret Technology, and new campaign missions.

Watch the Revelations expansion launch trailer:

Revelations is a new chapter in the Planetfall story following the collapse of the Star Union, marking the re-appearance of Heritor descendants from the utopian Es’Teq society. Using ancient technology, the Heritor aim to establish divine rule across the universe through the reincarnation of its mass following. Take advantage of Heritor Secret Technology or move to suppress their influence across two new campaigns with tactical combat and in-depth empire building.

Key Features:
  • Anomalous Sites Mechanic - Explore 30+ mysterious sites filled with traps and powerful enemies to reap unique rewards and uncover great secrets. Encounter unique choices based on each faction or Secret Technology.

  • Additional Campaign Missions - Experience the awakening of the Es’teq dynasty and the rise of their Heritor descendants with 10+ hours of new content across two campaigns.

  • New Secret Tech: Heritor - Use ancient Heritor technology to drain the essence of enemies, fueling the opportunity to use powerful abilities, create strong Entropy weapons, and summon new units.

  • Tomb World Scenario - Challenge yourself to complete this deadly new Scenario, where Heritor enemies create an onslaught of destruction. This scenario also includes a new questline to allow more players to join in on the action.

Included today is a free content update for all Planetfall players that features the ability to take over the new Imperial Defenses, unlocking Operations that boost the combat effect of your colonies. In addition, the Orbital Relays mechanic boosts your empire’s infrastructure to allow for nearly instant unit transportation between sectors.

Does this expansion have any influence on all scenarios?
I'm in the middle of one and wonder if things will change during this scenario, or new ones on the base game planets, when I install the dlc.
I already got the update yesterday on Xbox.

Elements like the Forgotten & Wildlife, Anomalous sites and such get added during the first generation of the map so those won't get added retroactively. Nothing to major should change outside of the various balance changes & fixes that we did.

Thank you for your quick reply.
Those anomulous sites look very nice, well all of the expansion does actually.
I'm off to the store then :)

Had time only for a quick look due to other things. Started the first mission of new campaign and they are already throwing new stuff in your face :) Heritors, anomalus, new units. Forgotten are so cool, speaking of them wonder if the whole entropy and essence mechanics will work out. New music tracks are very atmospheric, love them. Great work and can't wait to play some more.

The previous post about a Mac port alluded to the fact that the last AOW for Mac release coincided with the expansion pack and planetfall may do the same. Now that the expansion pack is out, do we know when it will be released for the Mac?

15€ for this... I'm disappointed I was waiting for at least one new faction instead of a new tech.
:(

Triumph was crystal clear on the content. And Imo it's worth every penny. It's not fanboy talk (which is hard as I'm a fan of this game), just relatively comparing to other stuff you can get for this price for other games. And remember even if this could be a bit cheaper (worth mentioning it's cheaper via season pass), it might be Paradox policy here. You don't exactly get a new faction, but you're getting two new "sub-factions", Heritors and Forgotten. New units with some of the best design in the game yet, like Eater of the Dead. Anomalus sites which give you plenty of flavor and cool new stuff (now that I tried a few I can only say this will probably be one of my favourite mechanics). Not to mention new mods and items (like this groovy new toxic scythe). And a slew of new music tracks (which I'm loving already with their ominous retro-cyber vibe). And there's still more, like new battlefields (seems some anomalus sites have unique battlefields). What more can you ask from a dlc 3 months after a games release? You will get you're new factions with the next two dlc, cosmic cats or dragons or sth :D

addon Revolution mistake killed balance. The error is that after resurrection all properties are available again. For example, You have 8 units that have a mod for resurrection. During 1 turn kill all units except 1. The last unit resurrects 1 unit, the resurrected unit resurrects the next. And so on chain all units alive. On the next turn, everything is repeated and so on indefinitely, if there is at least one unit with an unused resurrection. Play against the one who has the resurrection is impossible. Sorry for the bad English.

You mean resurrect resets after unit death? Well this is a bug/exploit so I suppose devs will adress it...
yes i mean this. I hope devs do it, but now it is impossible to play against a player who has several units with a mod for resurrection. The problem is wider-resurrection should not reset abilities. Especially the ability used once per battle or once in a few turns.

another mistake (Less critical). Resurrection resets the property "studied" (it is used by experts of Amazons and it gives -2 to resistance to any damage), which contradicts logic. I. e. if studied is any kind of units (for example 3 unit same species), then if one of them died and was resurrected - after this 2 unit will "studied" and have -2 to any damage, and one such same unit studied not will.

It appears Resurrect has some bugginess in it, devs please look into it. Btw, just a question as I don't use the ability very often: isn't it possible to like kill off the units before they resurrect another one? I don't remember how it works but aren't those having reduced HP and movements after "getting up"?
