First off I have to say that I really enjoy City: Skylines! It truly filled the void that Sim City 2013 left. Also great job on listening to your fans.

Getting down to business, I feel like the whole industry specializations could be done better. I feel like it was a clunky after thought in such a great game. I feel this way because when you zone an area for any of the specialized industry you get a lot of the same types of buildings right next to each other. It’s really an eye sore. A way to change this would be when you zone oil industry for instance, several oil wells get built in a specific area larger than 4x4, (maybe an 8x8 or a 8x16 depending on how much industry is zoned) with a small headquarters building. Have this area be greater depending on the demand for oil industry within your city.

Taking this thought a little further you could create production chains within your city. So after you zone enough crude oil wells, a refinery will be built. Then your oil can be processed into different oil products. This can satisfy some of your city's demand for oil products while also generating increased revenue from oil exports (and creating more jobs!! ;-) City Skylines for president 2016!!) .

You can do that with all the industry specializations, have big fields for farms with grain elevators that you can place along train tracks. You could have big areas of forest with intermittent breaks where you have people logging, then a big paper mill along by a waterfront area. With mining areas, you could have a big strip mine with dump trucks driving down into the mine, and a foundry close by.

Creating production chains will bring more depth to the game and will make it a little more challenging. You could even turn it into a DLC/free update and call it City: Skylines Industrial Revolution.

Thanks for taking the time to read my suggestion.
