Returning to play AoD once again, what can I expect?

So I haven't really played AoD since the launch of DH, because that game made AoD seem obsolete with it's old map, and DH also seemed to attract the modders. But I hear things have improved, and basically, what can expect now considering I only played the launch version? Are there any mods that are must-haves? Especially concerning the map, I've become quite spoiled by DH's beautiful map.

well, it is pretty darn stable, also in multiplayer, new "graphics engine" makes it playable on win10 =)

The worst thing that is in DH is... their 'DH-Full' MAP !
It has hundreds (!) of epic fails that will never be fixed.

Clasic Hoi-2 Map is still the best Hoi map.
This is the reason why the first 5 years I played only DH-Light, because it use classic Hoi-2 map.

That's just like, your opinion man. No need to be a dick about it. It may have inaccuracies, but it looks oh so much nicer. And more modern. HoI without the map from DH feels like a game from the 90's and while that may have some charm, I won't replace DH as my go-to WW2 strategy game.

Not to mention that I'm updating my Return of Lands mod to work as a scenario with his mod. It does use the HOI2 map. I did look at incorporating the DH map but it does have a few inaccuracies. Although I can do map changes/updates, it's time consuming and creates a mod not compatible with vanilla (or mods based on the vanilla) map. Right now I'm concertinaing on a few changes to my mod and updating it to work with Irön Fist. Maybe later I'll look at making a version compatible with DH (bc to be honest, I too like their map).
