I guess the devs have tested the game with and without it, so they perhaps know best. But I bellieve I would prefer it without this feature.. (Then once you remove it I bet people start complaining anyway

Why would it be intentional? What is it supposed to represent? I assumed it was a bug.
It represents pilots dumping excess fuel and running home to get some sleep and a dinner before you change your mind.

Hopefully you will have more luck than SAS, they always seem to run into trouble when negotiating with the unions..
I thought they dumped the excess fuel near to the airfield, rather than at the furthest point in their journey before returning?
Yep and only certain plane (mostly carrier based) with a landing weight restriction.
At this point. I do not use the RTB button until I get my plane almost back to the base. I manually plot them to near the base. Then I have the freedom to do anything with them while en route.
