Return of liberated provinces

Playing as Germany using the 1.04 beta.

It is December 1945 and I have forced the bitter peace with the S.U., the Allies are on their knees (I have annexed France and Belgium) and have the UK reduced to a hollow ghost of its former self.

An issue I am having however, is that I have had to take most of Africa and all of the middle east as Germany (Italy was impotent as usual in N. Africa). After the dust settled, I find myself in control of a huge chunk of Ethiopia, Sardinia, and Somalia - all of which show Germany as having taken the provinces from their rightful owner, Italy.

The strange thing is, as I was liberating Africa, some of the provinces were automatically returned to Italy, but others weren't. Now I cannot do a diplomatic deal to return these otherwise useless provinces to Italy. (And yes, I am allied with the Itallians).

Any ideas what could be going wrong?

If you leave those provinces, eventually italy will send units through them, reclaiming them for themselves. Eventually. Maybe.

I think you either will have to wait till the italians move troops through the territory auto returning the province back to italy.

Or right click on the province and a little black box appears with options like build infra etc and at the bottem of the black box will be a line that should say give province to then it will list off all your allies and puppets if its a coastal province or if its a landlocked province you can only give it away if it borders an officialy italian province.
