A) The question is superfluous and misleads some people. It has been removed.
B) Do the developers plan to reintroduce Defense Stations and Fortresses into the CURRENT Starbase mechanics?
The game files ALREADY have: Working textures for Defense Stations and Fortresses for 8/11 ship styles, pictures for technology, technology descriptions and many other files ... That is, about 90% has already been done!
In the current version of the game (3.1), the defensive part of the game looks "half cut" ... Wait, it literally is! After all, 2/4 of the defensive structures in the "Defense" section of the Starbases menu have been removed from the game.

Suggestions:
1) Return Defense Stations and Fortresses.
Of course with the CURRENT Starbase system. That is, I suggest that Defense Stations and Fortresses should be available for construction in the Starbase menu in the "Defense" section. Like Defensive Platforms and Ion Cannons in the current version of the game (See the first screenshot, everything is clearly shown there and there is additional information).

a) Ion Cannon with Titan (ALREADY in the vanilla version of the game!)
b) Ion cannon (with X slot as in NSK2 mod) with Battleship

e) Defense platform with Corvette

2.1) Remove the unchanged cost of 2000 alloys. (Make the cost of construction depend on the equipment like the "Defense Platform")
2.2) Remove the unchanged build time of 1800 days. (Make it so that the construction time depends on technologies, edicts and events like the "Defense Platform")
2.3) Add upkeep to the Ion Cannon (yes, in the current version the Ion Cannon does not have an upkeep)
2.4) Add "A" slot to Ion Cannon

3) Redesign the "Defense Platform Capacity" values for all types of starbases. Also change the cost of all defensive structures in the DPC.
Otherwise, in its current form, the Citadel has 15 DPCs by default, and the construction of two Ion Cannons requires 16 Defense Platforms Caps. This 1 DPC flaw looks like a mockery ...
The Capacity Defense-Grid Supercomputer gives +8 DPC, which is good, as it allows you to build a second ion cannon. But in the end, again there is not enough 1 DPC for the third Ion Cannon ...
Also, the aspiration bonus that gives +5 to DPC looks strange when the Ion Cannon occupies 8 slots.
