A possible bug detected! I found out that if you make maximum amount of retinues, and your leader suddenly dies, then the retinues you had become an army instead, kind of like a ronin. They then don't count to your retuine limit and you can make another retinue! Basically, you will have double the amount of retuines, for your previous retuine no longer counts as one so you have two armies of retinues. I hope this makes sense, for I feel it is a bit hard to explain. :eek:

In the end this could become a mass army, but I am not entirely sure if this is a bug! It happened to me in my late game.

It's not a bug. If you inherit your father's retinue it will be counted as a ronin retinue, often led by his old marshal.
