Hey guys :D
This is my first AAR, I hope you will enjoy it. This will mainly be about reconquering old terretories of the Byzantine Empire and crushing all it's historical enemies. So you can prepare for lots of wars against France, Venice, The Ottomans, Persia, The Mamluks, Italian minors and Spain (well, Spain isn't really an enemy like all the others but they somehow manage to stand in my way as much as they can).

Enjoy :D

Well, I finally made the first part :D I think this is a pretty good start!

Part 1: Be Quick Or Be Dead

AND NOW BEHOLD THE MIGHTY EMPIRE OF BYZANTIUM!
eu313cz.png

Okay, it needs some polishing but it is still mighty... right?

Oh well, anyways! The Ottomans are busy with the Timurids for now, wich means we can target the little Sultanates before they decide to make allies or worse... attack
me! Candar seems like a perfect start!

eu1f.png

They were not prepared for such a rush and they fell easily to the might of the well-trained soldiers of the great Byzantine Empire!

eu2p.png

A great victory with small losses, but we have to grab every opportunity we can and
there is no time for peace, our next victim is already in sight!

eu3t.png

Needless to say, they were no real challenge...
eu4s.png

After some years of peace and prepareings we decided to attack Karaman too, we had real luck since they were allied with the Jalayirids who were allied with the Ottomans, we could catch them off-guard as they were busy with the Timurids and refused to help Karaman, they first put up a fierce fight and we could only win with the help of mercenaries (forgot the pictures in the heat of the moment, please don't kill me), but in the end, they fell prey to the mighty Byzantine Empire!
eu5.png

And now, in the year of the lord 1407, we look something like this:
eu6.png

Trebizond is now also a tool of the Timurids, at the moment, they seem too powerfull and I don't want to face their armies... that's why the Ottomans are there. :D
I'm gonna wait until they seem to weaken or I get some more lucrative opportunities for conquering, I don't dare to attack the Ottomans for now because I am not ready to face them yet. Also, I need to replace my soldiers with muslim infantry, they are stronger anyways and seriously, sending heathens to die is much more appealing than sending our fellow orthodox brothers into war :D

Also, I don't want to risk haveing Timurids or Golden Horde lackeys at my borders, weakening the Ottomans would probably help them brake trough.

Anyways, that's it for now, gonna post the next chapter as soon as I can, I hope you enjoyed it. :D

That's a really nice start; I played a BYZ game a long time ago, made building ships my priority, and blocked the straits. I think with the newer versions of DW there are more OPM and TPMs in Anatolia, so I think your time will be a little easier. Well done so far!

Well, looks like it's that time again! After a time of peace and contemplation, Venice has decided to attack Montenegro and Wallachia! After 2 months, we were already called to arms, and this leads us to:

Part 2: The Most Guilty Republic of Venezia

After all those years, nobody within the city of Constantinapole forgot the 4th crusade! Now we shall make it clear to every fool in Europe that the Byzantine spirit is unbroken and will withstand every threat... or will it?

The war started off clearly on the side of Venezia, but for how long will it remain that way?
eu7.png

One the side of Venice stands Milan and Switzerland and it's Vassals, if we talk about contributing to a war, I am all alone.

Venice realized that Wallachia and Montenegro pose no challenge so they left some infantry in montenegro to Annex them and left Wallachia isolated as it already is! Needless to say, they focus on me.

The attacks began soon:
eu8.png

On every part of the remaining empire...
eu9.png

They even made a pathetic attempt on takeing the great city...
eu10.png

Of course, we tried to bring the war to them but we were vulnerable. We fought back some incomeing Venetian soldiers but we had to do something about the invasion overseas too.
eu11.png

After rallying our troops together and bringing the country close to a bankrupt situation, we managed to make a sucsessfull counter-attack in the Northren parts of Asia Minor.
eu12j.png

Around this time Montenegro got Annexed, they relatively held out for a long time, the Emperor felt bad that he couldn't save his brothers-in-faith but the invadeing troops couldn't be dealt with easily, after a short line of sucsess the Venetian alliance could manage to land another attack-wave on our shores. The city of Constantinapole came close to it's fall, the sitaution looks grim.
eu13.png

In our last desperate attempt, we offered Naples an alliance and begged them, to join the war.
eu14.png

The events seemed to have turned to our side, with the newly gained ally, Venice and their vasslas quickly lost ground on the greek land! Soon, they gonna beg for white peace!
eu15.png

The last sign of Venetian or Milanese troops on greek ground got overrun.
eu16.png

After the events, I've had to pay Milan off with 100 ducats, the fight for Venice was already lost, they tried to attack with some 1-5k infantry stacks some of my provinces until I've destroyed their whole navy. Eventually, their war exhaustion got the best of their leaders and they accepted our demands of Corfu, Crete and Athens.

And here ladies and gentlmen, you can see the map of the Mighty Byzantine Empire after the great war:
eu17.png

Forgot to include the island of Corfu but it's just a small part of our mighty Empire! More important than that, with this war we showed the Western World that we haven't forgotten or forgiven! They will all pay for the crimes they've commited, sooner or later! How I see the situation... sooner! The next target will be the Ottomans, as far as I can tell, but that is gonna be a bit later, I have to calm myself after the war, I forgot to mention that I used my "Libertum Veto" to get some extra soldiers and loose a bit of my skyrocketing war exhaustion and also had to take a loan to pay for them in the long run, but I've already repayed that. Well, that's it for now. :D

I hope you guys enjoyed it :D

Thanks, I'm playing Byzantine since a long time, honestly, I think HTT was easier, despite the OPM's. A more serious country, The Ottomans for instance, tend to have a web of alliances that can cause big trouble, me being orthodox makes my diplomatic situation already uneasy but to worsen the situation, most of Europe hates me, so I'm pretty much all alone, not to mention Georgia get's consumed by hordes at the start of the game wich means that I've lost my only potential ally :(

...but it's still fun :D

If you don't have ambitions further north, you could always ally with Muscovy; always good to have Big Orthodox Brother watching your back!

Trebizond finally broke free from the claws of the Timurids, but that does not change the fact that they were compromised, they are a disgrace to Orthodox nations everywhere. With the might given to me as Emperor, I hereby dismiss the Kingdom of Trebizond!
eu19.png

Oh well... they saw it comeing, let's get to the instresting things:
Part 3: ...The Punishment Due!

We sadly start with tragic news, our old monarch, has passed away!
eu18.png

But thankfully, the regency was only a temporary state, the new king was ready within months. And realized the mistakes of the old king. We have let the Ottoman Empire too much space, they found a way to deal with the hordes and they can now grow in might. Still, we can only hope for the best, a war with the ottomans now would be suicide.
eu20d.png

But since we've crippled Venice, they seem to have lost a lot of diplomatic influence, their strongest ally is Switzerland, a country with no way to reach me so go figure. I think it is time to end their reign on greek lands, once and for all!
eu21.png

As predicted, the war starts off with a critical blow for the heretics...
eu22.png

But as the war wages on and on... Switzerland has got me into huge trouble with begging the Holy Roman Emperor for help!
eu23.png

To say the least, Bohemia was not much trouble, Bavaria wasn't really acitve either, my primary concern was Milan and some rebellions that were sparkling later. Then we decided to call Naples to join the war, after that we could face the powerfull Venetian Navy, that would soon feel our wrath!

eu26.png

eu25.png

At the time the Orthodox Rebels that were sick and tired of their new masters sucseeded in takeing naxos (with some of our help of course).
eu27.png

After cleaning some of our home terretories a bit, we decided to do what we should have done back in the days when Byzantium was still together!
eu28.png

Looks like our old enemies aren't sleeping either...
eu29.png

Aww... look! How cute is this? I already though that I had to fight Castille for Rhodes. It's my lucky day, isn't it?
eu30.png

Well, every war has it's price, and getting rid of Milan is worth it, they will pay this sum back in the future anyways!
eu31m.png

In the meantime, the Knights decided to get a bit active, pesky little bastards, pretty annoying for an OPM!
eu32r.png

This was their greatest victory... not very impressive. And don't misunderstand me, I'm not talking about the Knights alone, this was the greatest victory for their entire alliance in this war!

And some days later, we got exciteing reports from the battlefield!
eu33k.png

Ahh yes, the irony!

And here began our winning streak, nothing could stop our armies!
eu34n.png

eu35c.png

eu36.png

And we they finally accepted our demandings!
eu38g.png

Soon, the the Knights followed. And, because Bohemia put already too much effort into the war and couldn't go on...

I personally think this was a sucsessfull war! For us! I don't really think Venice will have a big mouth after this one, they will be happy if I don't annex them til' the 16th century, or Austria... hopefully not, I have my own plans with them.
eu41.png

That's it folks :D
Gonna post the next part as soon as I can.

Oh yes, I know but if I'm not quick enough I might loose my cores, that's the fun about playing Byz. the ultimate country for suicidal warmongers :D

I would say Ryuku is the ultimate suicidial warmongering country
