I've experienced some rather strange things with my explorers/fleets, and I want to know if anybody else knows this problem. I haven't read too many bug-reports, so if this has been written before please point me to the thread.

While exploring TI (unknow terrain) suddely a window pops up and says that due to high attrition the fleet is returning to "name of some port". I'd expected the fleet to return to the nearest port, but very often it sails a long way and I loose it.
I had a port i Sierra leone and sent out an expedition to work my way down the coast towards Table. Some place north of Table I sent a conquistador ashore. While unloading the troops the fleet suddenly returned to port due to high attrition, but it returned to Mogadiscu! And of course I lost my explorer and my conquistador. From where I was it was only TI all the way to Mogadiscu, and it would have been a short way up to Sierra Leone.
It has happened several times but on different places, the returning fleet seems to pick some odd port and there is no way you can change that.

Does this sound familiar?

How do you do that, in the save-file?
I've tried to click on the fleet but nothing happens.

nothing happens?

for me the fleet would go to one sea zone, and then i would have to make it go where i wanted... when it reached the next sea zone it began to automatically go back to the original port... I just kept doing it all the way to my allies port.

I had the same problem, the fleet was going to a med port from the indian ocean. It was the closest port "as the crow flies" but I guess they did not know the Suez canal had not been built yet :)
I had no problem redirecting them to a closer port in Africa.
