I think the retooling penalty is too severe, and it should be made adjustable at game start. For example as (Germany 1936), when medium tank research is finished in late 1939 and PzIII becomes available, one is forced to abandon the PzII under construction and lose the gearing bonus (only one has been built anyway) and pay another 72 days of retooling if one wants to change production to PzIII.

This is a bit much, considering that this means that few or no PzIII tanks will be available for the French campaign, and considering that the German got a lot of tanks from the Czechs and many German tanks (especially tank killers) were built on Czech chassis that did not need retooling.

In any case I find the 70+ days of retooling much too long, and I doubt that it actually took that long to change a production line from one tank to another (same for aircraft). The retooling penalty could be useful as an adjustment to game difficulty, but it should not be imposed on the player.

AoD and HoI2 share the same enhencement forum. You should post this in the AoD forum if you want your posts to be seen by everyone.

I am having the same problem. I wish to only be in AoD forum. But checking back I keep coming to HoI. Something wrong with my back button?

you're completely in the wrong area...QUOTE]

I just checked how I got here. I started at Paradox Interactive Forums and went Current Games/ AoD where the ONLY Enhancements Suggestions does indeed have HoI2 infront of it. Henri was not in the wrong area at all, rather the HoI2 Enhancement suggestions is in the wrong area, and please provide an enhancement section for AoD. Thank you.

Sorry, this section is under AoD. If AoD and HoI2 share the same enhancement forum, then Henri posted properly his enhancement suggestion, didn't he. While I'm not everybody, I certainly saw his post - and I look only at the AoD forum.

If AoD and HoI2 really do share the same enhancement forum, don't you think it proper that it then be called "HoI2 and AoD Enhancements". And hitting my back button should return me to AoD and not to HoI2 (which is not where I came from).

New improvement suggestion for HoI2: PLEASE PROPERLY LOCATE YOUR FORUM, PROVIDE SEPERATE FORUM FOR AoD, AND STOP MIXING THEM UP. Everything I earlier posted here was meant for AoD. (Hope this makes me a Captain by now.) :D

And just where in the AoD forum should we post our "enhancement suggestions" if not in the HoI2 - Enhancement Suggestions provided in the AoD Forum? Besides, we don't really just want everybody to read that - just those people responsible for considering enhancements! Hey Henri, want to join my rebellion? :D

I think the retooling penalty is too severe

I'm still not a Captain

So I would like to post again and just say that I agree perfectly with Henri's enhancement suggestion. Retooling penalties in ARESENAL OF DEMOCRACY are really pretty severe. In real life factories did considerably better if it was only an upgrade of something they built before because many things in the older version were used in the upgraded version. 2+ months of retooling time better applies to a new product built the first time (like the first time you build naval bombers). Let's not forget that the very lengthy tech development time already covered PROTOTYPE TESTING in most cases.

Protype testing already builds many of the press dies, moulds and specialized tools needed for retooling, and it is the construction of press dies, moulds and specialized tools that contributes mostly to retooling time. To actually change press dies (or a mould) for one model to those needed for another model (if the dies and moulds are built) only takes a few hours or a day at most. And adjusting the rest of the production line to build a new model does not take a factory two months, but is actually mostly done as the first unit advances to the next station - thereby delaying a bit at each station. All production lines bring in the necessary new engine models, gun assembly and many other items from different factories; and the retooling time of those items mostly happens concurrently with the retooling time of the main assembly line - thereby greatly shortening actual retooling time. By the time the first few units roll out the other end, the line is pretty much up to speed.

Besides, is retooling time actually not already covered by the fact that the the 1st unit takes the longest, and the idea of gearing time? Or maybe gearing should be greatly adjusted because no production line has every managed to keep speeding up incessantly.

Now, how do I get this read by somebody who reads AoD suggestions?

Just to clarify STICKY wrote: "Welcome and what this is
This is the forum where you post all your suggestions for future changes/enhancements to the game."

And Arsenal of Democracry is a HOI2 game.

Henri and I posted properly. There currently is no other place to post enhancements for AoD, and we both entered this forum from AoD. But using my back button does indeed derail me to the HoI2 forum. Can this discrepancy be rectified, please?

OK, I can stop now - I made Corporal. :)
