Retinues?

Do you have legacy of rome? Because you need it first before retinues are available. If you do have it then you just go to your millitary tab, go to the retinue section, then once you have enough money to raise a retinue you just pick which one you want and wait for them to be recruited. Hope this helped you.

The AI uses them. However, only if you have Legacy of Rome installed.
hmmm, I have LOR and 100+ gold , but apparently I have reached my retinue cap ?

Retinue cap is based on either population of your lands or the supply cap (I can't remember which one). The easiest way to get more is to just conquer some weaker neighbors.
More accurately, it depends on a percentage (determined by Military Organization tech) of the total manpower of YOUR realm (ie. your demesne + your vassals and their vassals' vassals' ... yeah)
