For awhile there were major debattes on the forum about how to solve what people thought were the problem with cultures. One of the main issues was culture acceptence. The new system where one can promote culture was a decent solution. I however think it can be improved upon in a way that adresses some of the issues I think are at hand, including:
The fact that promoting a culture within the same culture group as the primary culture is just as expensive as promoting an external culture.
As has been said on the forum many times, why would the chinese care about the different dialects of german when administrating far distant cultures.
I sketched out a new way of scaling cultural acceptence. Acceptence would be on a modifier 0-4, there 4 is at default the primary culture (green), 2 is any culture in same group (yellow) and 0 is anything else (red).
promoting a culture would raise that cultures acceptence by 2, but also have the effect that that culture group would get an increase of 1 in acceptence. This would thus create a scale of acceptence going as follows
4: Primary culture + promoted cultures in primary cultures group
3: Any promoted culture outside of primary culture group
2: Culture in the same group as primary
1: Culture in a group that has at least one promoted culture
0: Everything else.
This could also fairly easily be expanded upon, creating a larger scale adding more factors into acceptence such as religion, overseas/non-overseas, region etc if that is what ppl would like to see.
