I Have played a few games, mostly France, where after 50 years or so of Colonizing, the sucess chance for clonizing a province drops to one, regardless of the provinces stats. Why the hell is this happening
Is it only 700+ population for cities?Nikolai II said:And the solution is to take most of your completed colonies and build them to cities (1000+ population) and you'll be able to easily place new colonists after that is done.
Trading Posts have the same rule, but for them it is enough to build to level 3 to have no penalties for them.
Ok, must be the beta then, I have 1.07 installed.Chaingun said:It was 700 before, but it was changed to 1000 in 1.07 or 1.07 Betas (can't remember).

The first time I saw that 1% chance of colonising I was swearing at that "whoever's responsible". Then I searched the release notes and found out what they did, I cursed that "whoever's responsible" a few more times.ThunderCelt said:I've not spotted this - probably as I've not played a colonising power recently. I used to find the continual placing of colonists tedious, but the change to 1% I assume will make this aspect of the game both more challenging and enjoyable and make me think about running W European powers again. Well done to whoever's responsible!
Nikolai II said:Ah, I thought the limitations on #of places colonized simultaneously came after the rise of city-level from 700 to 1000.
Then I'll have to rephrase my former post into: And the solution is to take most of your completed colonies and build them to cities (700+ or 1000+ population, depending upon if you play 1.07 vanilla or betas) and you'll be able to easily place new colonists after that is done.

Number of colonies without a land connection to the capital is the full description. It makes a difference in the Siberian corridor if one is playing Russia.Isaac Brock said:No you really shouldn't. In the official release the number of colonies doesn't affect the success of colonization. Only in the beta test.

Not true. This feature (probability of success decreasing when you have more colonies) has been introduced in 1.07, not just in betas.Isaac Brock said:No you really shouldn't. In the official release the number of colonies doesn't affect the success of colonization. Only in the beta test.
