Hi all! Just bought the game a few hours ago and am having quite a bit of fun with it. I must say, Paradox did a great job of merging the old qualities with the new aspects of the game.

But I do have one problem, I am having a hard time getting used to some of these new sound effects. They changed the sounds for EVERYTHING, and the bugle music for diplomatic realtions is kinda getting on my nerves. :p

Is there any way to take the sounds from the original and put them into EUII? I'm not all that great with messing around with files so I wanted to ask before I played around with them. Thanks in advance for any help! :D

I'm really gonna miss those mysterious harps...
(yes, mysterious. it's more fun to pretend we didn't figure out what they meant.)

I don't have the new game yet, but here goes...

Find the sounds files in the EU2 directory. Try search for *.WAV (as I think the sound files in EU1 were .WAV). Make note of the specific sounds you object to, and the accompanying file names. You should be able to play the sounds by double-clicking on them.

Then find the preferred sounds from EU1 the same way. Simply copy the file from the EU1 directory to the appropriate EU2 directory, and rename the sound file so that it over-rights the EU2 sound.

Of course if the game uses two different file types for sounds you're screwed, but this should do the trick.
