Restore to Default before Launch?

I'm having trouble with the GUI Scaling. I was playing on a large 4K TV. I had upscaled the GUI. Now I'm attempting to play on a 1080p monitor and I can't restore to the original while in game. I'm unable to see the "OK" button and therefore can't change the settings?

I've deleted and reinstall, but that didn't help. Does anyone know what I could do to restore default settings before launching the game. Thanks.

Are you perhaps able to set the game into windowed mode? That could let you access the OK button by moving the screen around.

Assuming you use Windows edit Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\settings.txt to change to lower resolution.

EDIT: Just realized you may not be aware you can change resolution in the launcher, not only in-game. Above suggestion would be if you couldn't see the launcher properly.

I've tried the "windowed" mode and it will not let me move my view down to see the buttons.

I suppose I could try to change the resolution down, but I think that would only exacerbate the problem.

I can type in the command promt in game. I can't see what I'm typing, but it does allow me to type commands. There's got to be a way to save settings with that...

In the setting.txt mention by jdrou you can change the gui scale, so edit that document and change the line to gui_scale=1.000000.

Note that part of doing a full delete of the game to fix problems is removing the stuff from the documents folder (after backing up any saves or custom empires you want to keep); that would have given you back a default settings.txt file.
