It would be quite nice if stockpile sites were buildable items in the Production queue, just like airbases, each can hold X resources (so you have to build several to store more resources) but you also have to place them on the map.

This would also make them a target for strategic bombing and add a bit more strategy to the strategic bombing side of the game.

One thing I really is wondering about, how do you store energy? If it is electric energy you have to store it on batteries or make it to hydrogen or something like that. Unless it is coal which is stored.

I also think the cap should follow the IC, it is not realistic that Haiti can store the same amount of recources as Germany.

Energy represents coal in game so yeah, it's stored. I disagree with your second part though, I see no reason why Haiti couldn't hold and store the same amount of resources as Germany though I can see a million reasons why they shouldn't get anywhere near the amount of resources Germany has without some, um, slight expansion.

I also think that there shouldn't be a cap, however I think there should be losses to stockpiles. The more you store, the more that's lost - similiar to tech decay. This would represent theft, industrial accidents, spills, etc.

That is a cap, but its a soft one (assuming losses are reoccuring and by a certain %)

It could also represent resource investments needed to store additional ones. And I agree that its by far the easiest and most fair way to balance resources.

Actually, what I really consider to be quite stupid with regards to Resources is that when you drop a Nuke at a nation's capital, all of their Stockpiled Resources (Money, Supplies and Fuel included) is destroyed. :D

So even if say the UK had 99999 in everything, a single nuke can wipe it all out. :D

As far as I know energy just represents coal. In Hoi1 there was no energy, it was called coal, and had the same function and high production that energy now does.

I know Paradox is trying to be as abstract as possible (replacing rubber with rare materials), but I think this is one case where 'energy' replacing coal is a little confusing at first glance and mostly unnecessary.

But what with electricity made from other recources like hydroelectric power?

Hydropower is stored - as water in the dams. Then you just produce as much as you need and save the rest of the water.
To increase storage capacity and new genetators to match you need a new dam and that'll take you a few years to build.

Coal is basically the same. I have no good numbers on the areas neded to store coal for electric plants, but from what I've seen it's extrmely expensive to have huge inventories

Hydroppwer is built ere there is water. Coal plants closer to where the energy is neded - and there landara is more scarce and more expensive

You saw that number through your spies, and your spies always and only give you estimates, sometimes they over shoot it. If you load up any nation you'll see they have 99999 just like you.

While I am not disputing that the AI is capped like the play ( I do not know for certain) it appears your logic maybe flawed. Perhaps the spies were correct and they had over 99999.

To verify, if I understand you correctly, you suggest load the saved game as their nation to check. But then as a player country they are subject to the cap and the resources are instantly dropped to the player cap of 99999.

One way to be certain would be to open a saved game file and check the data on the country your spies report as over 99,999.

Its WAD and it sucks. I want the caps to be moddable myself, but at the very least, MONEY should NOT have any cap whatsoever; excess resources could then just be sold.

This whole mechanic is meant to allow you to starve enemies of resources through warfare. If thats the case, uncapped money doesnt harm anything.
