You can download it here. You'll need Photoshop for it to work.

Using it is simple enough:

1. Import it into Photoshop
2. Open provinces.bmp
3. Run the action

You'll now have a province outline.


A while back I made some maps for my mod and for the vanilla game.
I've now decided that it would be best to share those maps, and resources for making similar maps, with the community at large, and have therefore made this thread.
So without further ado, here's an example map, and the full sets of maps I've made.

Map sets:

• Project Balance Map Modes

Below are images that can be used for making maps of your own. Simply put the province outline on top of a map screenshot (taken using F10 while in CKII) using an image editor, for example Paint.NET, Photoshop, or GIMP.
If you want an outline for a specific mod, just ask and I'll make one and add it to the list. If any outline on the list is outdated, tell me and I'll add an updated version.

How do you use Paint.NET to put the province map on top of a screenshot?

You should be able to place it as a layer on top as far as I know.

The Project Balance outline is now for version 3.0.1 rather than the unreleased 3.1. Not sure why I didn't do that from the beginning.

These maps are awesome, thank you for them. Is it possible to make them a higher resolution at all?

The only way to make them larger than 2048x2048 would be upscaling, which would lead to reduced quality.

Is it possible to make a map 2:1 w:h in ratio and not lose quality?

It'd be possible to either double the width or halve the height, but I have my doubts it'd look much good.

I use a number of filters in Photoshop to make the maps. I've got it set up as a script, so it is pretty nice and quick.

No easy way to make a numbered map I'm afraid.

I've decided (or rather, found out how) to share my script for making outlines with the community.
You can download it here. You'll need Photoshop for it to work.
