Much like Europe's Monarch focus I would like to suggest being able to focus on a type of research.
For example:

Physics we have 4 types. Computing Field, Manipulation, Particles, Voidcraft.

Let me pick one of those 4 types and I get a boost to pulling cards from that deck. Give it a cool down of 5 years.

Its frustrating to random cards you don't want like 4 times in a row....

Doesn't the researcher's trait influence the card draws like that? I'm pretty sure I remember something from one of the streams to that effect.
