Simply put, farms are too small. I started this game yesterday, and literally the first and only thing I've "wtf-ed" at were the farms. There is a work-around where we waste production space to make the field look like a farm, but that should only be temporary. Industrial support for commerce should increase as we utilize more farming space. On that point, the current small farms are wacky, already putting out support to commerce in excess of their land utilized, with standard pollution. Farming is meant to be average to low pollution, depending on the items farmed, and a low steady rate of support to commerce. It is also seen as a valuable industry to keep an economy flexible.
This game is largely stable, and there's been a lot of content releases. However, this farm-land issue is largely immersion breaking. That means, to anyone building a realistic city, with a proper amount of peripheral farms (unless you've gone into megalopolis production), farming should be seen as something that should be tackled real soon, if not now.
