Post your requests for the next patch here! Just thought I would start a thread for this...

Here are mine after playing for a few hours...

  1. Give an upgrade feature to stations so we don't have to delete and reform them
  2. Increase capacities on vehicles (impossible to make money now)
  3. Add a column/s to the data graphs that shows the following:
a - Total money made for a particular vehicle that you bought over its lifespan (+or-)
b - Ability to click a vehicle and replace it with a newer model without having to go through many different options
c - Total money made per line (+/-) over lifespan not just one month like it is now
  4. Ability to click a building and then have it show where people are coming from by highlighting the other buildings on the map and also ability to have it show where people are going to when click on a building
  5. Car traffic should decrease the more people that use mass transit (i have not noticed)
  6. Ability to click a building and have it show what lines people are using to get to work and whether or not they use more than one line to get to work

Thoughts? I think this is a pretty basic list that should get things started off well. I've played a bunch of games like this and these are pretty basic features...

Totally agree with 2 and 5. With the problem (fares/salaries) I mentioned earlier that should be the highest priority for the next patch.

[Had over 100 Passengers at a bus station ... used the Pavlov Stretch bus with 26 capacity ... 26 ?!?! Look how large that bus is! Don't tell me there is only enough space for 26 Passengers. At least 60 -if not more- would be realistic. Right now it's impossible make any profit and if I use more busses all I get is a traffic jam. -By the way the Pavlov Stretch bus is only an example, it's the same problem with any vehicle. (Or do you really want to tell me that a tram can only hold less than at least 80 passengers?! -In the game the capacity is around 25.)]

Well, imagine your bus has this huge capacity of lets say 50 people, how could the game ever simulate a huge request of passengers waiting for transportation? Everything would just work fine, and you might get bored too soon, since there is no challenge anymore. When there is such a high demand, try to build additional routes, who carrie those passengers to their desired destination, look for alternatives, or deal with it, until your network covers more parts of those crowded areas. I think it was ment by the DEVs that way it is now (except those bugs and other errors) - to keep the game interesting and find strategical alternatives.

raise petrol prices

The ability to raise petrol prices(gasoline) does several things. 1) It decreases traffic 2) Increases mass transit subsidies(profits). Seems like a natural fix for a good game that could be made great. Also subsidies for Senior Citizens(Old Age Pensioners) and students would add a nice social touch to mass transit.

Partly agree, setting it to 60 or higher was a bad example and would be way too much, but it should increase slightly, let's say 30 - 35 for an average bus. And the cap. should rise slighty with the tram (maybe 40 -45) and the underground (maybe 45 - 50) -Would be more realistic. Reason? Even if I build more lines it only ends with a traffic jam, because I would still need to connect them (and every 2-3 minutes 1 or 2 busses break down and block the way). Btw. I don't connect all lines at the same point. -Oh, and the busses running costs are always much higher than the earnings I can get... (normal Difficulty)
So I would say there has to be a higher capacity or there must be something done about the high break down rate (and following traffic jam and bus repair costs) and the possible earnings.
And/Or maybe a max. capacity for the stations?

I still insist though that the fares/salaries system should be automated. At the moment it's like a guessing competition and the open window blocks my sight. (optional; activate and deactivatable)

In summary (for most players, I assume): Right now it's impossible to make a profit which lasts longer than 1 or 2 months!

Just to mention it at least one time I wrote a list of costs/earnings (And now tell me how that can work with the problems above.):

Costs:

- Maintenance, Stationmaintenance, Energy, Salaries, Repairs after break downs, Advertising (optional), Loans (optional)

Earnings through:

- Tickets, Charges

Offtopic: The game I played before was "Der Verkehrsgigant Gold" by Jowood Entertainment. The balancing prices/costs was better there and still not easy. If I remember right the bus cap. was around 35. (German game title; don't know if there was an English version). Oh and before someone writes a sentence like: "Don't compare old/different games with CiM." -Thanks, I know that.

EDIT: Seems like the game I mentioned is known under Traffic Giant.

Found also some good mods:

Automated Tickets/Fares
Quick bus entry
HUD mod

A problem with streetcars, is that they take up a lot of space. On tight track loops, they will block traffic on both the road and their own track, so any other trains behind/front of them can not move, which causes a lot of gridlock. Traffic/other trains should be able to "clip" through small sections of other trains to eliminate gridlock.

Also, the window in which traffic decides that it is safe to proceed is way too large. It should move as soon as there is nothing in front of them. However, now traffic waits for streetcars to make the turn before they proceed.

Add a new Bus station which reserves parking space on the side walk for the bus so loading and unloading doesn't cause the traffic stop completely. I don't know how to better describe this but like 90% of the bus stations in Germany are like this.
