Yea, I totally agree with the ones above. For me the most nessesary improvment should be the possibility to adjust bus routes, maybe with waypoints. And I like to be able to build diagonal Metro stations. The traffic is a bit to much, so maybe it is possible to implement a adjusting bar in the setting for the difficulty.

Technical changes

Apart from what is mentioned, I would also like to see:

-Multi-level metro stations so you can cross lines on the same station, but different height.

And some technical/algorithm changes:

-Especially metros should not wait for passengers. On a high volume line the trains need to keep moving instead of standing still on one station for a long time. A station that attracts a lot of passengers all the time the metro just takes them in one by one as they show up, instead of leaving when it has taken those that were there when it came in. This leads to a metro pileups which decreases the overall volume and in most cases, maximum volume, as it's pointless to add more metros.

-"Traffic lights" (Actually I haven't checked if these show up later in the game, only played the Berlin scenario), because some intersections are just silly when there is a lot of traffic. Usually for example trams have to wait for the cars in front of them to "time out" due to inactivity before they can move on, as the traffic on the main road just doesn't stop. They don't need to be visual lights, just as long as the cars move in turns.

The right-click is used for turning metro stations and all buildings in map editor.

I realised that when building a metro. The ability to change all key/button bindings would be nice though, not just some of them. I'm more often clicking the selection tool than rotating a metro station. I know that i can use Z but it just feels odd to me lol.

Also i'd like to add from a patch point of view is the ability for cars in traffic to go around broken down or stopped vehicles! I watched for 2 full minutes at normal game speed as a traffic jam piled up. A car had just stopped in the middle of the street and eventually just vanished. The other side of the street was clear!

Patch to change ticket prices

I'd like a patch to charge less for off-peak travel for senior citizens and students. This is exactly what happens in the UK and the Netherlands. It is also EXCELLENT social policy as long as it is affordable. In the US senior citizen discounts and student passes are also common. We still need to tweak the engine of the game to make it profitable or at least a break even.

See peoples thoughts. What they like / dislike about your stations. Giving more personal feel to the game and better idea on what you need to do.

How do I know if some of those unhappy people at my bus stations are unhappy because of loosing their job or waiting on a bus?

I'd really like to be able to click on an item (be it a vehicle or stop) in the Roster panel and have it take me to that location. As it is right now, it only shows them on the minicam (which in my opinion should be configurable in it's size to make it larger or smaller), and then I've got to click on the item in the minicam to go to the item that I wanted when I clicked on it in the Roster panel.

The whole GUI needs to be more streamlined, less clicking to do the things we want to do to be honest.

The ability to upgrade a stop is a necessity. Unless it already exists I can't see how to do it without condeming the line and add a new stop next to the existing stop, insert the stop in the route then deleting the old stop. A very round about way to just upgrade a stop.

I'd like simpler altering of lines, and upgrades of stops.

However, I disagree with those wanting a huge increase in capacity. I think maybe bus and tram capacity might be tweaked, but I like that the game is challenging as it is. Buses and trams should be a way to raise money to get subways though, and this isn't really the case as it is now. Maybe that's because I've mainly played on early scenarios where vehicles have small capacity though? Anyway, I don't want a super-easy child's game, I like the challenge.

I already posted this on another topic but I think this should be here also.

I've noticed that an empty bus will stop at an empty bus stop, which doesn't make sense. I think the code should be changed so that the buses stop only if it's necessary to do so, ie. there are passengers in the bus who's destination is the current stop, or there are people waiting on the bus stop. Changing the code to fix this would also help with the traffic problem. What do you guys think?

I think that's a sure fire way to alert the player that he's got too many buses on one route. Since eventualy it seems to me that the buses would bunch up as they don't need to stop.

I also think this doesn't makes much sense. In the real world it depends how much time the driver has. So once (i hope) the schedule system is implemented and they have time let them stop. If not why stop at an empty bus station if the bus also has no passengers? :)

If a time table option can't be implemented then I would LOVE either or preferably both of the following.

a) When you create a line, add vehicles to it and then open, the vehicles should be spaced out based on the number of stops you have. EG. i have a line with 6 stops and I assign 2 buses. They should start 3 stops apart. Currently they start at sequential stops. The only way of preventing this is to hold them in the depot until they have gotten far enough round to let them go. In reality buses from the same line can and do start and stop at more than one depot.

b) Allow me to select a stop from the line and when I add a new vehicle it start there instead of always starting at stop 1.

An additional item that surely needs rectifying. Whatever stop a vehicle starts from it doesn't collect passengers from until it passes through again! Why is this? When a train starts at a station it doesn't ignore the poor people trying to get to work.

For me:

If possible, I would love to see an option where you can activate/deactivate to automatically update the fares and the salaries according to the intervall you first selected when there's a change in the economic growth.

For example: The price 4.70 (for the busses or whatever) and above is high (red marked), then I will use 4.60 (still white marked). (Intervall is 0.10 to the red mark which is 4.70)
Then theres a change in the economic growth. We assume it goes down.
So the price 4.20 and above is marked red. I would choose a price of 4.10 (still white). (Intervall is again 0.10 to the red mark but this time the red mark is 4.20)
And here's the point: Why should I do that manually if I always use the same Intervall?!

It's the same with the salaries. I would choose to have it just so high that I get a :). Again pointless clicks.

(It is getting on my nerves that I constantly have to look at the fares/salaries window just to click pointlessly the up and down arrows to look if maybe the prices/salaries have to be changed. And the window is to big to have it constantly open. -I use a resolution of 1920x1080; it's still disturbing-)

I sometimes only want to watch at my lines or at the landscape -and I can't do that with that damn (<-- sorry for the word) economic growth.

Please correct me if I got something wrong.

Agreed! Something needs to be done to make it easier to manage fares.

I would like to see

I wish the traffic was more realistic with working traffic lights. Some cars stop for pedestrians but I've seen on more than one occasion that cars drive right over pedestrians.

Will this game be supported and release of more content? More types of roads? Different types of traffic lights? CHange the amount of time traffic lights change? More scenarios? Taking over the MTA in New York City? D.C.?

1. Vehicles should absolutely stop at their first stop on the line when they are moved from depot onto the line. It's really painful to see trains appear out of nowhere and drive away from 40 or so people on the stop. On that note as well, you should be able to set starting point regardless of first station. You could in Traffic Giant.
2. Upgrades to existing / Addition of new stops should not HALT your entire line and suspend all vehicles.
3. Vehicles still wait too long at the stops.
4. People keep going back and forth between the stops without paying extra when they get onto the vehicles. Everytime they board another vehicle, they should pay half of the original price (or let us adjust how much the pay) every time they switch LINES(!), RIGHT now they only pay when switching vehicle TYPES. I'm not building extra bus lines just so that I don't lose profit on inner-city tram lines.
5. Traffic is still retarded. There may be less of it but I see cars getting stuck at intersection for no apparent reason. They dont make a turn, or move at all. They just sit there until they dissapear. There should be an algorithm to catch these bugged out cars and make them dissapear much faster.
6. Vehicles break down way too often. Come on now, I JUST bought the streetcar AND it breaks 2 days after? Give me a break. Chance of breakage should be based on the vehicle AGE (like in Traffic Giant), not on a VERY FREQUENT dice roll.
7. Ability to build SINGLE-LANE tram tracks.

That's about it for now.

Dear developers,

I've played CiM since the release date and I must say, it is a wonderful game which reminds me of the "good old times" with games like "Transport Tycoon" and so on.

Anyway, it would be great if some additional features - which I know from comparable games - could find their way into "Cities in Motion":
  • an option to turn off the smooth mouse cursor
  • even when I open the linemenue - after I set all my new stops on the road - I must manually set the "add new stops". It would be nice if it was automatically activated.
  • I miss a shortkey to close windows in the reverse order than I opened them.
  • If I doubleclick a line in the linemenue, it would be nice if the mainwindow would center on this line.
  • It would be good if I could change the order of lines in the linemenue, unattached of the lead time.
  • I can promote my own company... why can't I provide advertisement space on my vehicles and get some cash depending on my reputation?
  • When I plan a bus route including bus stops etc, it would be nice if I could choose other routes than the routes given by the game (as you can find at "Google Maps" for example).
  • It would be great if all the keys could be set individually, especially W, A, S, D.

Thanks for your time to read my (and the other members/players) wishes,

Pvt. Hudson
