I'm trying to transform BEN into a Russian colony in Africa, but I don't know how the flag should be. Any suggestions?
I'm really bad at making fictional flags, so I thought I might ask here.

The colors, currently used in Benin's flag - yellow, red and green - are generic for African countries, and not specific to French colonies, so the colors used should remain the same. Furthermore, since Russia never had any significant overseas colonies, with flags to speak of, we can't take inspiration there as well

I'd suggest just adding some insignia on top with small change of flag structure. E.g.:

Also, I've asked one heraldics' specialist, what can he suggest... he won't reply quickly
