Is Cities: Skylines multiplayer?
No. Cities: Skylines was designed to be the best single player experience possible.

"Honestly I would not expect CSL to head into an online mode in any near future unless there's an unprecedented amount of feedback asking for this after launch, which I really can't see happening. Still it's not impossible, just improbable.
And I agree that more singleplayer gameplay is a lot more valuable than bloating it with a MP mode."

Honestly I would love to see this game in multiplayer.
For sure I did not play it yet, but it looks awsome and to create a town with my friends would be the best!

So I ask for multiplayer.

Some of us still play sc4 and there is no Multiplayer so thats not an argument its your fault if you dont play a game long because there is no MP. The Team from CO is not so big that it would be good to have a MP mode because most of us want new elements in the game new mechanics more buildings and so on if they worked on a MP we dont get this. And i don't understansd what you want to do in a MP in CSL? you can't trade because the goods are not so stupid like in sc 2013 or CXL the economy trade therself, the mayor don't have to do with this so what you want to do in a MP ? There was lack of content in the sc 2013 MP too you can't do much important only trade some energy and water but nothing fascination it was still boring. And because we have only one Big map no region thats a problem too don't know how that could be a cool MP.

You get a city builder with an online mode (broken as it was, and an eventual single player mode) and people say the city builder is more of a single player experience. Then, you get a prominent single player city builder with all the features under the sun with no foreseeable multiplayer in sight, and people say it would be nice to build cities in multiplayer mode with other people.

I'm tapping out.

I did not tell you that I dont play games because it does not have a multiplayer. I told you that I only play games a long time if they have a multiplayer.
Because to play with friends is even more fun if the game is good.
More Buildings will be available with modding anyway I guess. For new mechanics I would need to know them, to tell you if they are more worth for me than MP.
What I would like to see as multiplayer is to build up a city together. You may played Anno, in that you were able to play as team and build together.
I do not want the SimCity clone, that only enables the city to trade. Thats not realy a good multiplayer for me.

more important things for your are for example?

Perfecting the simulation of the game for one? I am personally tired of city builders ending up being crap because the devs decided multiplayer was a priority over everything else. It's about time we got a city building game where the devs actually prioritise city building.. Leave multiplayer to a dlc or expansion.

I'd love to have a region like in Sim City 4 on a dedicated server so me and my friends can log on and choose our own tiles and develop them. Much like the SC4 region when a tile has nobody playing it it will sit idle but will have an influence on RCI, etc. A bonus would be to be able to select a friend's tile and view his city in suspended animation if he's not on(but with data views) and in action if he's playing. It's sort of like how I really enjoy singleplayer minecraft but to be online with friends building together or checking out what others have built adds an entire other level to the experience.

We stand by that original statement. There are just so, so many cool things to add to this game as a SP experience that making MP possible would just be horrible feature creep.

It's not that it's not cool. Just not in our scope :)

Just...no. CO tried it with Cities in Motion 2, and the few times that I tried it with other transit fans, it was a buggy experience in which games haven't lasted three minutes. A good city-building game can have a good single-player experience but also have a good community, so in a sense we're playing "together", just not literally.

What I mean is, with the way this game is set up, we'd be user each others' feet trying to unlock more areas. It's better if we just play single player and then share our experiences, kind of like in Cities in Motion 1.

It's too bad because it could work so well with the tile system. Each player gets 1 tile to start, and then buys tiles and expands from there, eventually you could get to a point where a neighboring region border touches yours and things like noise pollution and air pollution would play an effect. Then you could vote on map-wide laws and shit. You know, basically everything the last sim city could have been, but better.

Maybe a Cities: Skylines 2 feature?? (If you decide to make a sequel)

I would like multiplayer, so yes.

There are some possibilities :

- A region mode would be almost like a multiplayer game : different people could play at the same time on a different part of the map, then reconcile their cities by saving them back to the global map of whomever they like.

- A coop mode could be envisioned in which each player would take a tile (or a district) in which they could, by the same or separate budgets (in which case you could divide in two the initial sum of money given to a single player), rule their city (es).

- Some also proposed a more adversative model in which one or many of the players would be an opponent trying to wreck the city. I'm not fond of this idea, but it may be doable.

- And let's not forget the "original" neighbour cities model, in which you couldn't see the other city (not even in a region), but you could exchange some ressources by treaties.

Please no... not for CSL1... MP is not a feature that appeals to me in a city building game. If you would like to offer MP in the future then I think we need to have a discussion with the community regarding the approach... however, SP off-line should be default by design and MP only an added feature.

I really don´t see how multi-player should work in a city-builder game...

seeing another city evolving on the far horizon? *shrug*
playing a region style like sc4? couldn´t care less...

this adds nothing to the gameplay.

having someone else messing aorund my city? WTF?

If someone really needs some kind of competition feel free to post you cites in the forum or the steam wokshop :p
