In HOI2 you could define how fast leaders in general would gain xp. (misc.text # Leader XP gain Factor 1.0 #

This would lead to air leader bombing pointless battles for months gaining loads of xp and levels, land leaders gaining quite a lot of xp, esp in small ever lasting mountain fights etc and naval leaders gaining almost no xp at all due to the relatively short naval battles. If you turned up the gain factor air units levelled too fast, if you turned down naval leader got too little.

I think it would help if it was possible to define the leader xp gain ratio individually for air, land and naval leaders just as it was possible to adjust for air, land and naval units respectively.

Maybe this has been taken care of already in the development process but if not I hope Paradox takes it into consideration to fix.

Send transports against submarines for a few weeks and your leaders will suddenly become naval geniuses.

Do you mean I can send my transports against my submarines to gain experience? :D

There are 3 different experience gain modifiers for UNITS. There is only one single experience gain modifier for ALL LEADERS. This need to be split into three different categories for land, naval and air leaders respectively.

completely agree, there is little reason to have them present, and effectively its nothing to code in i would thiink.

Are you sure about that? Maybe I'm just imagining here, but I think this values also apply on leaders somehow.

EDIT: In the misc.txt, I have leaders XP set to 0.9, with the others as follow:
# Land XP gain Factor
1.5
# Naval XP gain Factor
7.7
# Air XP gain Factor
2.0
Seems to work ok for me.

combat = {
# Land XP gain Factor
0.75 #1.0
# Naval XP gain Factor
2.0 #2.0
# Air XP gain Factor
2.0 #2.0
# Division XP gain Factor
0.6 #1.0
# Leader XP gain Factor
0.55 #1.0

Thats how it looks in the misc file. Maybe there could be separated Land/Air/Naval leadres but I dont know if its neccessary. OTOH it shouldnt be much work for programmers.

The really rapid xp gain for the flyboys was always an annoyance to me in HOI2. If something can be done about it that would be great.

You could just chainge that factors - its easy and requires no brain ;)

One other thing in HoI2 that could be improved is how an air leader can gain large amounts of XP/levels doing air-to-ground missions and then use this new XP for air-to-air bonuses. The two missions are completely different and are not 100% convertable. BTW leaders on air-to-air missions gain XP much slower. Best way to get those Superior Tacticians ready for the Battle of Britain is to get them on numerous Interdiction/Ground Attack/Naval Attack missions beforehand.

Perhaps seperate sub-levels (A-G and A-A with seperate XP). Only really needed for air leaders I think. Or at least have air-to-air combat have quicker XP gain rates.
