Request : is the game working with proton?

Hi there!

So I understood that the game will not be supported on Linux, I am not here to debate that. Just to ask if any dev or streamer or whatever with early access could test the game with proton and tell us linux users if the game is working (honestly on my own surprise many recent game runs pretty well with proton now) and eventually add an entry on ProtonDB?

Just attempted with version 4.11.1 and 4.3.2 You get the following error

I actually came to the forums hoping to find some clues as to how to fix this. Hoping a dev could provide some clues as to what wine package might be required to get this working.

I'm attempting to install the paradox launcher separately both for native linux and for windows within the proton prefix. Doing so in the prefix, created the folders but ultimately failed to unpack the program from the MSI. I'm going to start throwing random ideas at the wall and see what works. Pretty sure Steam installed all the necessary .net and direct X files.... so I'm guessing it's missing a Java component or something like that. If I happen to get it working I'll post what I did to protondb as well as here. Unless someone else beats me to it

Basically the game requires the Paradox Launcher to run. Based on the errors you get on install steam attempts to install the paradox launcher into the prefix but for some reason the installation is failing.
I'm starting with looking at the C++ re-distributions and Java. If those don't work I'll swap to my windows laptop and hope that installing the paradox launcher on there will give a hint as to what it's missing.

Ideally one of the dev's sees this thread and tosses us a bit of a technical bone to point us in the right direction. If anyone does figure out what's missing I'd private message one of the devs directly so that the missing component can be added to the steam install process. That way the majority of users doesn't have to fiddle with protontricks.

Didn't work for me :/ it download a file and then showup the same error again, which version of proton are you using?

I'm using 4.11-1 and it worked for me

Edit: Make sure you replace the right file. When I first did it I replaced the Dowswer file instead of the dowser file. Also a mistake I made was renaming the original AowPF.exe file instead of a copy.
If steam is downloading something chances are it's replacing a missing file on an quick integrity check. so you may have to do the fix again.

I redid the operation, making the copy with a good old cp from a term instead of using my file manager and it worked.
Using 4.11-1 too.

That helped. Start of the tutorial worked, but combat isn't loading. Just black screen and ambient sounds...

Happened to me as well for my first combat. But when I restarted and reloaded the game, it worked without problems. I've played it for a few hours and barring some minor graphical glitches, it works great.
