What is the farthest distance China will be willing to march to shatter a realm if I muster up 5k grace with them to use the Request Invasion boon?

I would very much like to see Byzantium or muslim Hispania wrecked before the game ends, and I wonder if I should wait and see if one of them expands too far east, or just spend the grace elsewhere.

There should be a tiny button at the bottom of the Chinese interaction window (the one where you send eunuchs etc), which switches to a special mapmode. This will highlight every county that is in diplomatic range of China (IIRC, they are coloured blue). I believe that China can only shatter realms that are in diplomatic range - ie. where the top liege's capital county is in range.

With default game rules, Byzantium is normally in range (due to the trade post in Trebizond) but Hispania is not.

If you're a tributary and you have the rule that tributaries extend china's diplo range and you yourself are in range of Hispania or Byzantium, I would assume yes and this is probably the most feasible way to do. I'm not sure what attrition would do though, the army may be 500 men by the time it gets there if ticking warscore doesn't end it first
