In the absence of bus lanes, I'm interested to see there is the possibility of smallish bus stops or suburban train stops on elevated roads/train lines.

I'll look into it but no promises. I've been trying without success for a proper train station but i haven't tried a bus stop. I can think of a reason for why it won't work but I'll wait and see once if tested it out. Will get back to you. Just fyi i don't mod so i am confined to the game rules/physics but i am good at manipulating what we have.

Well, for train stations it's way more important I think but I would really appreciate a mod like this. I tried it by myself with the ingame tools, but the lack of bus-only-streets and the enormous long footpaths for pedestrian to reach the station are so damn ugly.

well i think i've found a way of doing train stations but I'm not happy with it yet and there's a lot to refine before i release, but i would like some thoughts on:
how should it interact with roads? should there be a road running lengthways (so it's parallel directly under the rail, or should it pass under but rotated 90 deg to the rail?

Doesn't have to be direct under the rail, like the original train station but just elevated rails should do it, at least for me.
But to answer your question: Why not both? :D

nothing i suppose, it's more a question of what people would want first as it will take a bit of time, and you'll have to wait a bit for me to be able to work on these anyway; uni and so forth.

Well I agree with you.
Elevated train station? Noone? :-/
They don't even need to go over a street or something, just the track has to be elevated so the trains don't have to go up and down every few meters. :-/

I've figured out a hack version that doesn't look half bad...
I use the rural station since its the skinniest, just platforms and a tiny building. I terraform the ground to el-rail height and place the station, obviously by making a road at the right angle. I then demolish the road and terraform everything bar the station down to ground level. If you then draw a road very close next to the station it will be at ground height and the carpark will bend down to meet it. You can then put some trees in to hide the bendy grey carpark. The station then is the exact width of the train line.

I'm at work otherwise I'd put up a screen shot.
