I think I remember from a Q&A that losing Reputation is entirely, or almost entirely, about failing your employer, not about taking contracts against a faction. Like, there might be a few instances (perhaps certain mission types) where your behavior on the job negatively affects how your opponents think of you, but by and large it's letting down the people who pay you that you have to worry about.
Which makes sense to me. If every reputation gain from a successful mission was offset by an equal hit to your reputation among your opponents, you'd be treading water, never really getting anywhere.
"Equal Hit" ~ not hardly, it would have to be IMO considerably less.
And you may be right, in my quest to take any and all contracts against Davion Interests in the Rimward Periphery... there may be no consequences or ramifications for my eventually becoming the Rimward Scourge of All-Things-Davion!!! This will be another angle of the Solo-Campaign I am looking forward getting my hands on. I'll keep track of all the damage I do to Davion Interests, Affiliates, Corporate Concerns and Known Surrogates... and you may be right, there may be zero change to terms offered by the Davion Contracting Official for a first contract with the Federated Suns, While not conclusive it would give indication that even intentional deprivations against a specific Great House has no ill-effects...
...
of course the Event System could have a role in all this!
Maybe, just maybe....enough consecutive or nearly consecutive Contracts with Davion Tags (if indeed Contracts are "tagged" by the Enemy you are going up against) will trigger some manner of Davion-related Event!!!!
But then all of this is just fun and entertaining theorycrafting with not nearly enough information to go on. I could be wrong in any of the above particulars. But by taking the opportunity now to try and puzzle it out, I have always found that it'll give me some insights into what to look for when we all finally do get "hands-on" after Launch sometime next month.
