So, new game, new government, new questions... basically two big ones; I try to split every possible case.

1. Inheritence: Who inherits the huge amounts of money my male relatives collect from my trade empire?

1.a General question: How is oldest family member defined, only members in the merchant republic's court or all, everwhere? Can 'disinherited' family members, i.e. those who are castrated, bishops, or members of a holy order still inherit money?

1.1 Males in my court

1.1.1 With children - do the children inherit the money (if so, only sons, or also daughters?) or goes the money to the oldest family member, or to the liege (in that case me)?

1.1.2 without children - money for me or the oldest family member?

1.2 Males outside my court

1.2.1 unlanded, with or without children - if they have kids, do the kids inherit (again, can females inherit?), the oldest family member, or the liege, i.e. whoever rules the court the are in?

1.2.2 landed family members: I guess for barons, counts etc the money goes to whoever inherits their title, right? What about holy orders or bishoprics - goes the money back to the family or does the successor inherit the money along with the title?

2. How to get the 'connected to capital' bonus for trade routes? It took me quite an effort to get a big connected trade route but for some of the farther away trade posts, the 40% connected to capital modifier is not applied and I don't get it why. As you can see in the screenshots, the trade posts are all in the same trade zone, but all trade posts farther away than Artha (second screenshot) all the way to constantinople do not receive the connected to capital bonus. Is there a maximum distance for this bonus? And if yes, would the maximum distance depend on the distance to the capital itself, or to the nearest holding I control? Btw it is nice that overland connection also counts towards being connected.

Their money goes to their kids except the ruler's cash - that goes to the heir. The ruler's money goes to the new ruler, assuming the head family doesn't change. I don't know what happens when the head family changes.

Oldest member of the family in the world. I'm not sure about your special circumstance family members.

1.1.1 With children - do the children inherit the money (if so, only sons, or also daughters?) or goes the money to the oldest family member, or to the liege (in that case me)?

These follow normal rules to the best of my knowledge - especially when people are outside of your court. Really the only special "republic" rule is that you pay a subsidy to unhanded males in your court, so unlike feudal courts, your heirs can be quite wealthy when they inherit the repubilc. This is a bit of a super-power where the death of a ruler can make you very rich.
