Just a headsup: I have had no time or energy to play on for a while now, mostly due to RL issues like my anxiety issues and a hard economic/work situation. I have not abandoned this story, but with the coming of 1.8 tomorrow I don't know if my save will work. I use a mod (which I honestly think might have been installed faulty, I find very little change from vanilla ) and a 1.7 (1.6?) save, and while I can go back to older patches, the mod I have no control over. I can backup my game folder, but mods in this *explecitive* Steam system where files are hidden in weird named folders elsewhere, I can't figure out how to backup.

In short, I have played almost one chapter more, half a presidency, perhaps more. But I have no idea if the game will work after that.

Well my friend, as you have advised a time or two yourself, no worries for delays, especially when caused by RL stuff.

Indeed. It's just more pressure when you're on your own turf, so to speak. But in this case, I'm unsure I can finish the tale due to the patch. We'll have to see. I cannot write more just yet.

I've asked, and the developer of AlphaMod has said 1.7 will remain up (though who knows for how long). Good luck, both in game and real life!

You do as you like, it's your AAR . It's not a drama if you lack the time to play or write, as we always say: real life goes first. Hopefully you'll be able to continue, either on the older patch or the new one.

So I have some bad news. I set my game to be kept at 1.6.2, but the mod I use, AlphaMod, updated nevertheless. The game ran for a while, with the warning that it might be unstable. But it crashed the minute I clicked on my capital planet in the ledger. As such, I have to end this story here. And I who finally got some time for this today...

So here comes a quick recap of the five years I managed to play onwards from the previous update:

The new President is of the Vrinn species, called Cognat:

We settled 9 new planets in conquered territory:


o Hope on old Qasvalyvian planet of Vurgiv Vvada (Botein system)

o Kalahari on old Qasvalyvian planet of Davfin Civa (Mauthula system)

o Nueva Sonora on old Qasvalyvian planet of Grospalvin Vvada (Mauthula system)

o Mare on old Qasvalyvian planet of Lajkut (Mirach system)

o San Lucas in Maasym system

o Baltica in old Qasvalyvian planet of Jindet (Aslund system)

o New Africa on old Qasvalyvian planet of Baakrot (Menkar system)

o Muspelheim in Ler Zumon system

o Bengal on old Qasvalyvian planet of Poqats (Iflagua system)

We started a renewed genetic modifications program, with the goal to improve all our resident species:

The Korinth Peacekeepers awoke!

And they are very strong... Better than us in all areas. We had only used ca 390/500 fleet cap though, which was what I was trying to do something about when I clicked on Earth and subsequently crashed to desktop:

And thus, ends the report and the AAR...

How were you able to settle so many planets? When I want to do that I either don't have enough suitable planets or I'm at the cap.

This is the endgame crisis, right? What would happen if you "become a signatory"? You just become their subject because of "peace" in the galaxy?

I'm very sad you had to end this already, but I really hope to see something new from you, be it in Stellaris or another game. Thanks for doing this, I really enjoyed it !

I conquered a Hive Mind, and they 1) hadn't colonized half the planets I was able to within their territory, and 2) they died and I recolonized their now empty planets. Also, my neightbours in the west took out the rest and didn't bother to recolonize the planets they took.

Well, that's the thing. I turned off end game crisis. Seemingly FEs awakening is not considered an end game crisis. If i became their signatory I would cease to be able to wage war or conduct diplomacy independently.

So am I... But I had played for two centuries, so it was beginning to be less to write about. I did want to end properly though. I guess it'll have to be for the next story. Which I don't know when will be yet. I do want to return to AAR writing though. Next now in Stellaris is to try out Synthetic Dawn (just bought it five min ago!) and soon me and some forum members over at Civ fan site WePlayCiv.com will try to do a succession game. We plan to play 10-20 years each and see where it goes. Perhaps I could write something from that. We'll see. No, we usually just take the save and write up what we did, AAR style.
