The realm rejoices as Paradox Interactive announces the launch of Crusader Kings III, the latest entry in the publisher’s grand strategy role-playing game franchise. Advisors may now jockey for positions of influence and adversaries should save their schemes for another day, because on this day Crusader Kings III can be purchased on Steam, the Paradox Store, and other major online retailers.
Neat, been a while since I played Vicky2; I'll be following along as I usually do.![]()
I like these conversion ideas! I'll follow you!
Excellent!
I finished the gameplay for the next update and edited the screenshots; it's just a matter of finding some time to write!
At least you've got some stuff to write. I've played a couple of years past the end of my update in my AAR and nothing noteworthy happened.![]()

I've played two years and had to fight two wars (although the first was my fault). I'm hoping for a quiet period to work on my economy.
If you're short of things to write about, just declare war on someone with a Free People wargoal. It's what I'm going to do if I need a story hook.
Vicky 2 is definitely not primarily a war simulator; I often find myself not writing extensively on wars so I can get to the good stuff (economics, diplomacy, politics). So don't lose heart!
I'd utterly concur with this - from a writing perspective the interest is not in the combat but in the economy/social/diplomatic stuff.

I don't dispute that, but tamius23's point was predicated on there not being anything noteworthy to write about. It's far easier to manufacturer a war than an economic crash, and generally less disastrous for your country.
[For those who care, Moldavia was formerly Naples; must not be a Naples in Vicky 2 because I can't find another country that got the tag.]
love the reversal of the comet event from EU3 ... I've not seen that in my V2 games yet
as to content, its your usual well written exceptionally easy to follow stuff --- but I am still trying to grasp the rather different world you exist in to the normal vickyverse

I'm guessing that the UK's navy techs are substantially better than yours given your focus on other areas in EU3. That should keep them ahead for the foreseeable future.
Your tech path seems to be pretty much the inverse of mine. You're going for all the good techs I'd like to get, but instead I'm focusing on literacy and plurality. It will be interesting to see which approach works best, although I suspect they'll both work pretty well.
How well placed are you to intervene on behalf of the Swiss? They seem to have provoked quite an alliance against them, although all of those countries might be OPMs. In my game, Mecklenburg is one of the major German powers.
Naples is the capital of the Two Sicilies in Victoria 2, being the product of the union of the Kingdom of Naples (whose ruler claimed the title King of Sicily) and the actual Kingdom of Sicily.
I'm with loki. I like your updates, but I need to look back at the map to follow what's happening.
Thanks for the info on Naples; I suspected there was no independent tag but couldn't be sure. I wonder if it's still possible for Italy to form?
I can get to Mecklenburg and Hamburg pretty easily; the others less so. I'm basically doing this for prestige, as I have no desire to get involved in Germany (although some border cleanup down the road would be nice).
EDIT: Missed the tech part. I would guess I've got substantially more population than you, which is why I'm loathe to jump into the literacy techs. After clean coal, if I can't rush towards Nationalism and Imperialism, I'll probably try to sneak towards Biologism.
It should be, provided there's at least one Italian-cultured country out there. They'll need to be a GP, but if they are they'll get a Liberation CB on all the Italian cores held by non-Italian-cultured states (which I'm guessing would include Moldavia). For any other Italian-cultured state they'll just need to sphere them as in vanilla. Looking at the map of Europe it does seem that Italy's not going to form unless someone takes Moldavia down a peg or two, or you could just edit the save game to make Moldavia's primary culture South Italian.
Actually, you've got about 44 million to my 102 million.

If you work out a quick way of cleaning up borders let me know!
Actually, you've got about 44 million to my 102 million. You've got way more *land* than I do though, just that all my provinces are stacked full of people. Nationalism and Imperialism will get you some plurality inventions I think. Judging from your screenshots you're not eligible for any of the plurality raising inventions from Ideological Thought, which suggests you've already got them, but haven't had the plurality boosts. I'd be tempted to either un-invent them via the savegame or give yourself the boost they would have brought (50% plurality). Otherwise it's going to take ages to get plurality up to useful levels.
Moldavia's primary culture will be Italian after the converter.
I have 229 million.
