Your buying non-core provinces strategy has really worked for me with Sardinia-Piedmont. For boat loads of cash and inventions I was able to buy all but two of the predominantly Italian provinces off of Austria (some already fortified for me with level 2 rails). Unlike you, when I got Milan, it had more population then anywhere else in my knogdom - 18 pops, over half of them 80,000 plus population. Avoiding war and gaining territory really helped. thanks for the inspiriation.

Yeah, I've found its useful as well. I'm playing Ireland... and I just bought some Catalonian/Spanish provinces from France (Catalon rebelled and France conquered a good bit of it) and a lot of Italian provinces from Austria. Whether or not this is realistic, Ireland is becoming quite a European power. I've made Catalon (whats left) into a satellite, Spain into a satellite, Eire/France is defeating Prussia in the Gael-Franco-Prussian War (this reality's equivalent to the Franco-Prussian War). Finally, I soon plan on expanding my influence in Italy by conquering much of it and satellite-ing the rest. It should be a great game.

And by the way, after ressurection of Poland it should be at war at least with Russia as the most important trials to regain freedom happened on the Russian part of Polish territory.

I did EXACTLY the same in my Sardinia-game
Though I also buyed provinces that were their and my cores, those provinces cost a lot!Milan is propably is one of the best regions in the game, some central german may be as good as Milan.
Well, in this alternate world, Krakow is Russias best friend, and as it bought Poland, I don't think that should happen.
I've got +200 to Russia and ~+170 to Austria, and defensive alliances with both., so I don't think about them as my enemies Well, Russia has a lot of army, but it's a very undeveloped army. Prussia however, has a bit more developed army than me. And Austria just is 3rd most powerful country militarily.

Arrh, problem is, that I don't know which provinces are which, when you say names in forums. I'm going to put a screenshot about Krakow and surrounding ares later today I think.

Before the end of october, 400 thousand men were mobilized, and ready to defend Krakow, future Poland. Krakow also had almost same amount of trained soldiers, one fourth of them were dragoons, three fourths were infantry.
January 1st, 1876, few days after the death of Siciñski, Krakow declared, that it was Poland. It was a surprise, that both Austria and Russia accepted Poland fully, but Prussia declared war on 24th January.

Well, its opportunity for you to take you army in use and show bismarck who's the boss.
The event should not make you Poland unless you win the war against whoever the event forces you into war with. However, if you have good enough relations to prevent war, then you should be able to instantly become Poland.
I think this should happen because the other nations should be able to stop you from becoming Poland.
