Any word on whether we will be able to? It this something anyone besides me wants?

I would love to be able to give it a name more fitting for my Rasalhague themed merc outfit.

Alternatively I would consider going for a Greek-inspired merc outfit to keep the naming consistent. Though I don't know which faction/area of space in BattleTech has this type of background..?

You won't be able to have a Raselhague themed company. In 3025 it doesn't exist. :p

Sorry but nothing has been seen about changing the name of the Argo.

Isn't the name specifically spoken during certain bits of voiceover? I suspect it is not available to change in-game, but you could probably brute force change any text use of it by editing game files.

Isn't it seen as bad luck to rename a ship?

Ok, it is just superstition...and this is a game anyway...but still...Bad luck will befall ye who renames that scallywag! Arggh! (Had to channel my inner pirate there at the end).

Technically...Raselhague does exist as it's the name of a system. Also, changing the names of a ship is generally considered bad luck.

Exactly. :) I was not thinking about the faction but rather the planet itself (though of course for theme purposes they are near identical).

Ah well, I did not know about the voice-overs, but that seems like a pretty definitive "no" (outside modding). Ah, guess I will look into the Greek thing and weight the pros and cons. Thanks for the quick replies guys!

Rasalhague as a culture exists.

Like Poland. Poland didn't have a national government because it was, during the partitions, split between Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Russia, but Poland was still a region with a nationality and such.

Rasalhague is ruled by the Combine but it's still Rasalhague.

Someone want to tell the Royal Navy that? They did it all the time: prize ships, civvy ships that were impressed for the duration and old ships relegated to training/coaling duties were all renamed.

To the OP, you can still keep the Rasalhague theme, the ship was named centuries beforehand so no-one is going to mind :)

ok.. new to this.. what is the story/joke here?? My last name is Decker so i was wondering

Dekker is the callsign of one of the starting mechwarriors you'll get in this game. One of the game designers (Kiva McGinn) has been on and off live-tweeting the exploits of her unit while she is testing things. Her Dekker's always seem to meet grisly and painful ends in one form or another.

In short, its a development in-joke.

Ya there are superstitions about this, yet generally when a warship was captured or sold to a different nation, the new owner typically renames the ship. Generally speaking, you aren't supposed to rename the ship while commissioned in your navy (but again, there are many instances where that guideline has been broken for #reasons).

Its totally believable that the new owners of the Argo would want to name her to suit the flagship of their 'new navy'. Also, along this vein, a real minor nitpick for me is the fact that the leopard is named the leopard in the game. The ship is named after the class, and unless she's the actual very first leopard ever made (highly unlikely, and a scary thought) thats just lazy.

This mercenary outfit has been flying around in their dropship for years, and they never bothered to name her :p.

Just imagine if the game designer decided to create twin characters for some A-B comparison tests.....they'd have "double Dekkers".
