Another ocean-province-naming related thing: I've seen the ocean west of Rome named "Tyrrenean Sea". That should be renamed to "Tyrrhenian Sea"

I don't like that change - but I'll live (Easy to mod back in - lots of CK2 mods do this iirc)
I find it sad that the Scandinavian areas get renamed, while loads of other names are still in their native and frankly, equally hard to pronounce names to foreigners.

But what would you do in the rest of the Baltic then? Give the non-Swedish bodies of water German names?
Using native names for the water creates more problems than it solves IMO. Land is another matter.

Seriously, though, I find Swedish names much worse than English ones considering that these are (mostly) Danish straits. English is neutral. Stora Bælt [sic] and Öresund would just be weird.

As far as I know, København is always called Copenhagen in Paradox games. So yeah, go ahead and anglicise yourselves too, svenskjävlar! :happy:
I do think land provinces are different, though. It's more logical for them to be named after their culture - naturally that's not possible in water areas since we don't know what the fishies call 'em.

I was just about to recover from the Bornholm fiasco and now we have this.. /Whine
I think the devs should hold an open thread for these minor fixes where everyone can contribute, and other areas of the map (god forbid, even the Balkans) become better rounded. Otherwise Scandinavia's preferrential treatment and these ad hoc fixes become muhc more annoying.
I think that's a good idea, actually. An official "report typo thread".
The problem with many land provinces is that they're disputed or otherwise hard to name properly - I'm looking at you, Eastern Europe - which in turn has a tendency to create huge (sometimes pretty heated) debates, and then it's suddenly a lot more work for the devs.
What I tried to do here was to present a few simple changes for the better and with solid reasoning. A lot of times people just shout: "Paradox, do this and that because I say so!" "OMG it's an outrage that they missed this" etc.
The inclusion of Bornholm and the general addition of more Danish provinces is also not a 'fiasco', but a sorely needed lifeline to Denmark if they are to have any chance of surviving the Swedish onslaught (just look at those terrifying Swedish land NI's). I don't see how a change for better balance is bad just because it's not your favourite corner of the map.

If it makes you feel better, I also think they should fix the Tyrrhenian Sea. But it's just an oversight that people haven't been good enough to report - yet.

a better solution would have been renaming the english sea provinces to swedish.

I agree with this point, but, every land province should be in russian, then, because it all belongs to mother Russia !
