The fact that other species finding you disgusting has a negative effect on your amenities usage just doesn't make a lot of sense, and it has a particularly bizarre effect on gestalts. Why not have some other trait affect amenities, and revert repugnant/charismatic to having a diplomatic effect?

The descriptions for these traits are confusing as they are right now, even more with their Machine Intelligence counterparts. I don't expect the devs to bring back the original effects in any way, so at least updating their descriptions would be a welcome change (the MI ones might even require completely new names).

Yeah, this has bugged me for quite a while. They should rename it to something like "Lazy" or "Uninspired". Or they could make the amenities management trait be one that makes pops consume more or less amenities, such as "Rapacious" and "Frugal".

I do wish they would bring back the original effects of Repugnant, though. It was great for RP.

It would make sense that a repugnant pop would consume more Amenities, clothing, perfume, other things that make them less unattractive. Also Rapacious comes with too much negative baggage (considering Rape is part of the word's origin). Frugal works but is a little similar to Thrifty (thrifty's benefitis is a little mismatched).

Yeah, but they're only repugnant from the perspective of other species - even the most hideous species won't consider itself ugly.

Plus, things like clothing and perfume are closer to consumer goods than amenities, which typically represent things like, I don't know, a mix of infrastructure and the presence of enjoyable activities such as theater.

True but then Rapacious still has a much worse connotation I'd rather something else. Also FYI you don't need xenocompatibility for xenos to increase pop growth, that little planetary logistic curve doesn't differentiate by species, nor does the Pompous Purist entertainers, they are even encouraged to use domestic Servants, those aren't just Blorg Comedians, they are sex slaves. I find that much more immersion-breaking than repugnants thinking they are ugly.

It's bad on the developers for a poorly explained resource created by Clerks Entertainers and Administrators. I think of consumer goods as bigger things, Computers, Furniture, personal Transportation. Amenities are the small everyday things that you need+ entertainment +Good Governance. Amenities are done better in Gestalts.

Perhaps it could effect trust cap from Envoys
Or having a Repugnant leader would slightly lower your diplomatic weight, while a Repugnant governor would decrease immigration pull.
